【語法用法】
通常我們習(xí)慣的表達(dá)方式里都沒有in...form，如in popularform(以通俗的形式)，in book form(以書的形式);
good form 和bad form表示“有禮貌和沒禮貌”，form前不加a或者the，也不加s;
a new form of book指“一本新型的”，也有some new forms of books的表達(dá)方式;
form letter 與 form a letter 有所不同。前者表示“依照固定格式印成或打成或?qū)懗傻?發(fā)給許多人的)信”，后者表示“正式的信”。
【詞義辨析】
list, catalog(ue), register, roll, schedule, table, chart, form
這些名詞均含“名單、目錄、表格”之意。
list最普通用詞，含義廣。指按字母順序、時間先后或類別等排列的姓名或項目等的單子。
catalog(ue)指列出有全部隊名、物名或項目等的目錄，有時指附有簡要說明的分類名單或一覽表。
register多指官方對人或事作出的正式書面記錄或詳細(xì)清單。
roll多指人員的姓名名單，尤指屬于團體或軍事單位的全體人員名單。
schedule既可指時間或計劃的安排表，又可指詳細(xì)列出的所有分類項的清單或細(xì)表。
table普通用詞，一般指易于迅速查閱使用，具有特定編排方法的目錄或表格。
chart指把資料制成表格等形式供人看的圖表。
form指上面印有橫線或格讓人填寫規(guī)定內(nèi)容的表格。
mould, forge, form, shape
這些動詞均有“使成形”之意。
mould通常指把有延展性的材料澆鑄或塑成所需形狀的物品。
forge意義較窄，指用錘子和砧對金屬材料進(jìn)行加工或鍛造。
form通常指對尚未成形的物品作進(jìn)一步加工，使成為成品。
shape比mould使用廣泛，指用許多不同的方法制成不同形狀的制品。
【例句用法】
The team were on excellent form throughout the whole competition.

二.effort：n.努力, 努力的成果
【語法用法】
effort指“努力”時，后面跟不定式。
His effort to reform her at length succeeded.
他為改變她作出努力最后取得了成功。
effort指“作品”時，后面跟at和動名詞或名詞。
This is his effort at depicting the peasants.
這是他描繪農(nóng)民的一幅作品。
effort指“努力”時，是抽象名詞，不可直接用于make后。只能以an effort，efforts，every efforts等形式出現(xiàn);
表示相反的狀態(tài)時，用without effort或without great effort中，注意是單數(shù)effort;
effort可用于以下句型中：Effort has been made to...(不定式)，Effort has been directed to...(介詞)或make special effort to...(不定式)等。
【錯句舉例與錯句分析】
錯句: He cleaned the blackboard without efforts.
訂正: He cleaned the blackboard without effort.
翻譯: 他毫不費力地擦干凈了黑板。
分析: effort在句中指“力氣”，是不可數(shù)名詞。
