　　1.在某些動詞后，可用介詞短語作賓語補(bǔ)語：

　　We found her in tears.

　　我們發(fā)現(xiàn)她淚流滿面。

　　They all held him in great esteem.

　　他們都很尊敬他。

　　This will bring us all into harmony.

　　這會使我們大家都合睦起米。

　　They soon got the fire under control.

　　他們很快把火勢控制住。

　　He always considers himself in the right.

　　他總是認(rèn)為自己對。

　　She cried herself to sleep at last.

　　她哭著哭著最后睡著了。

　　2.這類句子可以用于被動結(jié)構(gòu)：

　　These things should be kept in good order.

　　這些東西要保持整潔。

　　The constitution was never put in force.

　　這部憲法從未實(shí)施過。

　　I was left without a ray of hope.

　　我被弄得失去了一切希望。

　　Some of the prisoners were set at liberty.

　　有些囚犯被釋放了。

　　The treaty is still considered red in force.

　　條約仍然被認(rèn)為有效。

　　3.有時(shí)賓語補(bǔ)語可以用副詞表示：

　　Did you find her in?

　　你發(fā)現(xiàn)她在家嗎?

　　Why did you leave the light on?

　　你為什么讓燈開著?

　　The doctor soon brought her round.

　　醫(yī)生很快使她蘇醒過來。

　　Congress voted the bill down.

　　國會否定了這項(xiàng)法案。

　　She slept the headache off.

　　她睡了一覺頭疼好了。

　　Mother will expect you in tonight.

　　今晚媽會期待你留在家里的。

　　4.在少數(shù)情況下，這類句子也可用于被動結(jié)構(gòu)：

　　Why was the light left on?

　　為什么沒關(guān)燈?

　　The bill was voted down.

　　法案被否定了。

　　My fears were finally explained away.

　　最后經(jīng)過解釋我的疑慮消除了。

　　George fainted，but was soon brought round.

　　喬治暈倒了，但很快被救醒了。

　　Finally Tanzania—Uganda war was declared over.

　　最后坦桑尼亞和烏干達(dá)之間的戰(zhàn)爭宣布結(jié)束。
