Our slang has to do with bugs, insect. I love insect,but they are really annoying sometimes

so if someone is bothering you, you can say they arebugging you 如果有人在打擾你,你可以說他們在bugging你

And if you want someone to stop bother you, you can say "hey, quit bugging me"

And another slang that uses the word "bug," is "bug out"

另外一個有bug的俚語是bug out

You know most bugs, they have really big eyes, like they're surprised all the time

Well, that's kind of what it means. When someone bugs out, they're becoming reallyfrightened

和它附有的含義有些關聯(lián)。當一個人bug out,他會變得很害怕

and wildly excited, think about how bugs act when you wave your hand at them

If you're acting all scared and running around, that means you're "bugging out"

So, that's our slang for today. It's a little short. If someone's bothering you,they're buggingyou

and if you are just going crazy because you're worried about something,you're bugging out

Now let's look at sentence structure. Our example sentence is

So if it is hot, he will wear shorts. You can also use the same sentence a different way

"Depending on how hot it is, Fred may wear long pants"

In this case, it means, "if it's cold, Fred will wear long pants"

You have to think about the words sometimes. One more example of this sentence structure is

你有的時候需要去想單詞。另外一個例子是

"depending on what kind of food you like, you may want to try that restaurant"

These sentences are very good to use with people you don't know very well,because, well, youdon't know what they like

這些句子很適用于和你不太了解的人交流,因為你不太清楚他們喜歡什么

So you say, maybe you'll like it, maybe you won't

所以你可以說 或許你會喜歡,或許你不會

That's our sentence structure for today. Our etymology for today is "ambi"A-M-B-I

這就是我們今天的句型。我們今天的詞根是ambi

The first word I think of is Ambiance. A-M-B-I-A-N-C-E. It means the mood or feeling of theroom

第一個我能想到的詞是ambiance。它的意思是一個房間里的氛圍。

Which is perfect, because the root "ambi-" means both, or on both sides, or all around

Ambi這個詞根的意思是兩邊的,或者周邊的

So an ambiance is a feeling that you can feel around you. For example,this room feels veryrelaxed

所以ambiance是你可以感受到的。例如 這個房間感覺很隨意

It has a relaxed ambiance. There aren't very many people around, there's lots of space, that'sthe ambiance

它有一個很放松的氛圍。周圍沒有很多人,有很多空間,這就是氛圍。

Another word that starts with "ambi-" is "ambidextrous." "Dexter" means right

另外一個由ambi開始的單詞是ambidextrous(雙手都靈巧的)。Dexter的意思是右側(cè)

And, well, people used to have to always write with their right hand,because that wasconsidered the correct way

人們習慣了用右手寫字,因為這被默認為正確的方式

Now, of course, we can write with either

But the people who were ambidextrous, well, the word means that they can use both handsjust like their right hand

So an ambidextrous person can write with their right hand, or with their left. Sounds prettycool

And another word that uses the word "ambi-" is "ambiguity"

When something is ambiguous, it's kind of not clear what side they're supporting

當一件事模棱兩可,很難知道一個人支持哪面

or which side something belongs to, because it sounds like it could belong on both sides

或者某物屬于哪方面,因為聽上去好像兩邊都可以

It is ambiguous, because remember, "ambi-" means both sides, or all around

它是模棱兩可的。記住,ambi的意思是兩邊的,周邊的

So, for example, if someone says, "Well, apples are really crunchy and delicious, and orangesare really juicy and delicious

例如有人說,蘋果很脆很好吃,橘子很多汁很好吃

you won't really know which one they like. They're being very ambiguous about which one theyprefer

And one word that is kind of surprising is "ambitious." "Ambitious" means you are very driven

You are going to try very hard to succeed. And the word comes from "ambi-" meaning around

so you're walking around, you're talking to both kinds of people, you're talking to lots of people

because you want to have a high official status. So people that go around and talk to lots ofpeople are ambitious, and want to achieve great things

So I was a little surprised by that one, but if you think about it, it makes sense

So remember, "ambi-" means "both sides," or "all around"
