Welcome to class today! Let’s start with some slang

歡迎來到今天的課，我們從俚語開始吧

Our slangs today are both about catching things. Doyou know what catch means?

我們今天的兩個俚語都和“抓”這個詞有關(guān)系

The first slang is to "catch some Zs"

第一個叫“catch some Zs”

Yes, we are talking about Zs, just like in thealphabet

對的，我們說的是字母表里的Z

Zs are what are put in these little thought bubbles that come over people’s heads

Z就是我們放在那些浮動泡泡里面的

when they are asleep in cartoons

在卡通里當(dāng)一個人睡覺的時候就會出現(xiàn)

You might have seen this before

你可能之前見過這個

So when you want to catch some Zs, you want to get some sleep

所以想抓一些Z就是想睡覺

because it’s just like you are catching the thoughts from those sleeping people’s minds

類似于從睡覺的人的意識里抓想法

Our other slang is to "catch some rays"

我們另外一個俚語是“catch some rays”

Rays are beams of light that come from the sun

“rays”的意思是太陽的射線

So, to catch some rays means to 曬太陽

所以，它的意思是曬太陽

If you catch enough rays

如果你曬太陽

You will become tanned ,your skin will become darker

你會變得黝黑

and a lot of people like that

很多人都喜歡有黝黑的皮膚

So people go outside to catch some rays during the summer or really any day that there isgood weather

所以他們很喜歡在夏天和晴天的時候出去曬太陽

And both of these slangs are used as verbs

這兩個俚語都是當(dāng)作動詞來用的

You can say, I’m tired, I’m going to go catch some Zs

你可以說，我困了

if you want to say that you want to go sleep

我要去睡覺了

If you want to say that you are too pale

如果你覺得自己太白皙了

and you want to get darker

想變得黝黑一些

say "oh, it’s so nice outside, I’m going to go to the beach and catch some rays

你可以說“外面的天氣真好，我要去海灘曬太陽

and maybe you can ask a friend to come along"

你也可以邀請朋友一起來。”

So, our example for sentence structure today is

我們今天的句型是

"In order for Jimmy to remain a part of this group, he’s going have to calm down"

“Jimmy如果想留在這個組里，他需要平靜自己的脾氣”

And the basic structure is "In order for A to do B, it’s going to have to C"

基本句型是“如果A要去做B，A必須具備C才行”

A is our main subject. A wants to do B, but needs to do C to be able to do B

A是我們的主語。A想做B，但是需要做C才能夠去做B。

Another example is, "In order for me to get a good grade on this exam

另外一個例子是“如果我想考一個好成績

I am going to have to study a lot"

我需要好好學(xué)習(xí)”
