Which problems will you decide to solve?

你們決定處理哪些問題

If your world is wide,

如果你們的世界觀足夠?qū)拸V

you can create the future we all want.

你們將能創(chuàng)建出我們所有人都想要的未來

If your world is narrow,

如果你們的世界觀太過狹窄

you may create the future the pessimists fear.

你們就有可能創(chuàng)建出悲觀主義者們所害怕的未來

I started learning in Soweto,

從索韋托開始 我開始了解到

that if we are going to make our optimism matter to everyone,

如果我們要將這份樂觀傳遞給每個(gè)人

and empower people everywhere,

讓所有地方的人都獲得力量

we have to see the lives of those most in need.

我們需要首先去感受那些需求最迫切者的生活

If we have optimism, without empathy,

如果我們只是樂觀 而沒同情心

then it doesn't matter how much we master the secrets of science.

那么對(duì)科學(xué)秘密掌握得再好也將毫無用處

We are not really solving problems. We are just working on puzzles.

因?yàn)槲覀儾⒉皇窃诮鉀Q問題 而是僅僅在做一些智力題

I think most of you

我想 你們大多數(shù)人

have a broader world view than I had at your age.

世界觀都比我在你們這大時(shí)更加寬廣

You can do better at this than I did.

你們肯定能夠比我做得更好

If you put your hearts and minds to it, you can surprise the pessimists.

只要全心全意地投入進(jìn)來 你們就必然能讓悲觀主義者震驚

We are eager to see it.
