The Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Ya' alon has expressed regret for the death of a Palestinian government minister Ziad Abu Ein following a confrontation with Israeli forces. Mr Ya' alon said the incident in the West Bank has been investigated. Pictures show an Israeli border policeman holding the minister by the throat. Mr Abu Ein spoke to reporters the moment before he collapsed.

The Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas accused the Israel of barbaric act. The UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said he was deeply saddened by what it described as a brutal death.

Scientists have cut doubt on a theory that water on earth came from comet after analyzing data from the Rosetta space mission. The European Space Agency by landing a probe on a Comet called 67P in November. Rebecca Morelle reports.

The Rosetta probe is allowing scientists to look at Comet in an unprecedented detail. And this is helping them to answer the fundmental scientific question of whether a collision with these icy space rocks brought water to earth billions of years ago. The latest datas suggest this probably wasn't the case. Water on our planet has a unique chemical signature. But the water found on Comet 67P doesn't match. The scientists conclude there's something else must have given rise to the earth’ oceans. They believe the most likely candidates are now asteroids. The formed closer to the sun.

A truce commission report in Brazil says execution and torture while official policies during military rule were changed nearly 30 years ago. The report calls for the lifting amnesty law in order to prosecute officials who carried out abuses. Supporters of the military government say the report is biased.

The International Criminal Court has referred Libya to the UN Security Council for failing to hand over the son of the former leader Col Muammar Gaddafi. Saif Islam Gaddafi has been held by rebels in the eastern Zintan region. He's charged by the ICC with crimes against humanity relating to the bloody oppression of the uprising in 2011, in which his father was ousted and killed. Anna Holligan reports.

The Libyan government has said it can't hand him over because he's been detained by the influential rebel group, the Zitan Brigade. The ICC has also asked for documents seized from Saif Gaddafi's defense team when they visited him captivity to be returned and any copies destroyed. The UN Security Council could in theory impose sanctions or even authorize the use of force. It could also put a block on the unfreezing of assets until the surrender has occured.

A Kenyan bus crew accuse of stripping a woman has been charged of sexual assault and robbery with violence. The crew who denied the charges they support for death penalty if convicted. A video of the incident which showed the woman pleading with man not to rape led to a social media campaign and demonstrations.

A group of Gambia diplomats in London who imported and sold out 29 towns of tax-free tobacco have been jailed for between 3 and 7 years. A court in London said four diplomats and three other staff members of the Gambian embassy have cheated British tax payers at 7.5 million dollars. The defendants used their diplomatic status to import commercial amounts of tax-free tobacco.
