突破英語口語練習(xí)：廁所“沒紙”盡量別說“no paper”，弄錯太尷尬了！

網(wǎng)上之前有這樣一個梗：
有位剛出國的留學(xué)生到快餐店吃飯
沒有餐巾紙，然后跟人說要'paper'
結(jié)果服務(wù)人員拿來了張白紙，還問：Do you need a pen?
很是尷尬...
雖說是梗，這種情景或多或少在現(xiàn)實中上演過。因為一說到“紙”，很多同學(xué)的第一反應(yīng)可能都是“paper”，但英語中，不是所有的“紙”都叫“paper”，搞錯了甚至?xí)[大笑話。

paper
紙張；報紙
paper常用來表示寫字、畫畫或者打印的紙張，除此之外，還有“試卷；報紙；論文”等意思。所以很多時候，你對老外說“paper”，他們會以為你是要用來寫字。

那“餐巾紙”、“廁所用紙”、“廚房用紙”、“濕巾”等不同紙巾對應(yīng)的英文是什么呢？跟著普特君盤點一下：

紙巾
英文釋義：A tissue is a piece of thin soft paper that you use to blow your nose.
多指家中常用的抽紙。比較薄軟，用來擦嘴巴、鼻子或手等。
She wiped her nose with a tissue 
她用紙巾擦了擦鼻子。
He shook his head and wiped his tears with a tissue. 
他搖搖頭，用紙巾擦掉眼淚。

napkin & serviette [?s??vi?et]
餐巾紙
英文釋義：a piece of cloth or paper used at meals for protecting your clothes and cleaning your lips and fingers.
napkin 和 serviette 為同義詞。一般指餐廳提供的餐巾紙，多為折疊擺放，比較厚?？梢允羌堊龅?，也可以是布料做的。
He dabbed at his lips with the napkin. 
他用餐巾拭了拭嘴唇。
She was taking tiny bites of a hot dog and daintily wiping her lips with her  serviette.

英文釋義：a thick sheet of paper that you use to dry your hands or to absorb water.
多指放在廚房中使用的一次性紙巾。比較厚實，吸收能力好，可用來擦桌子等。
Give me a paper towel. 
給我一張紙巾。

toilet paper & toilet roll 
廁所用紙；衛(wèi)生紙
英文釋義：thin soft paper used for cleaning yourself after you have used the toilet.
There’s no more toilet paper in the lavatory.
廁所里沒有紙了。

wipe
(一次性）濕巾
英文釋義：wipe is a small moist cloth for cleaning things and is designed to be used only once.
Remember to take nappies and baby wipes .
記住帶尿布和嬰兒的濕紙巾。

handkerchief [?hæ?k?t??f]
手帕；手帕紙
英文釋義：a small piece of material（布料） or paper that you use for blowing your nose, etc.
He took a handkerchief from his pocket and lightly wiped his mouth 
他從口袋里掏出手帕，輕輕擦了擦嘴。
He took out a handkerchief and blew his nose.
