[00:00.01]That's how I've come to feel about the Yale experience—grateful. 我很感激耶魯大學(xué)給我們提供了這么好的讀書環(huán)境。 [00:05.02]I studied hard, I played hard, and I made a lot of lifelong friends. 讀書期間，我堅持“用功讀書，努力玩樂”，結(jié)交了許多讓我終生受益的朋友。 [00:11.51]What stays with you from college is the part of your education you hardly ever notice at the time. 大學(xué)期間，常陪伴你身邊的那些東西是你學(xué)習(xí)生涯的一部分，但是那時你卻從來沒有注意過。 [00:18.02]It's the expectations and examples around you, the ideals you believe in, and the friends you make. 那是大家對你們的期望，是你身邊值得你學(xué)習(xí)的榜樣，是你堅持的理想，以及諸多你結(jié)交的朋友... [00:24.35]In my time, they spoke of the "Yale man." I was really never sure what that was. 我那個時代，常常聽到大家說“耶魯人”。我從不確定那是什么意思。 [00:31.39]But I do think that I'm a better man because of Yale. 但是因為耶魯，因為有了在耶魯深造的經(jīng)歷，我變成了一個更加優(yōu)秀的人！ [00:35.56]All universities, at their best, teach that degrees and honors are far from the full measure of life. 許多大學(xué)都在盡力教導(dǎo)學(xué)生，學(xué)位和榮譽并非衡量人生的一切標(biāo)準(zhǔn)。 [00:44.03]Nor is that measure taken in wealth or in titles. 財富和頭銜也不能用來衡量人生。 [00:47.15]What matters most are the standards you live by, the consideration you show others, and the way you use the gifts you are given. 衡量人生的關(guān)鍵在于你的生活準(zhǔn)則、你對他人的體恤以及你如何運用你的天賦。 [00:57.29]Now you leave Yale behind, carrying the written proof of your success here, at a college older than America. 現(xiàn)在你們即將低著從這所比美國歷史還要悠久的大學(xué)獲得的證明你們成功的證書離開耶魯。 [01:05.30]When I left here, I didn't have much in the way of a life plan.
