他一個(gè)人背下了黑鍋。

left holding the bag 是相當(dāng)古老的習(xí)慣用語(yǔ)，從1760年起就流傳了，但沒(méi)有確切出典，有一種猜測(cè)是這里的bag可能是裝贓款贓物的袋子，同伙聽(tīng)到了警報(bào)都走了，就剩拿著袋子的那個(gè)人被抓，人贓俱獲?，F(xiàn)在這個(gè)短語(yǔ)的意思是：“替別人背黑鍋，或獨(dú)自承擔(dān)錯(cuò)誤和罪責(zé)”。因此，當(dāng)美國(guó)人說(shuō)"He has been left holding the bag."時(shí)，他/她要表達(dá)的意思就是:"He has been made into a scapegoat."、"He has been unjustly blamed."、"He has been left to take full responsibility."。
