army與troop的區(qū)別

1. 兩者都可表示“軍隊(duì)”、“部隊(duì)”，但 army 著重指軍隊(duì)的整體，而 troop(通常用復(fù)數(shù)形式 troops)則著重指構(gòu)成軍隊(duì)的士兵成員。如：

The Chinese People’s Liberation Army was founded on August 1927. 中國(guó)人民解放軍建立于 1927 年 8 月 1 日。

The troops forced an entrance into the town. 部隊(duì)強(qiáng)行進(jìn)入這市鎮(zhèn)。

由于 army 側(cè)重指軍隊(duì)的整體，所以漢語(yǔ)中的“參軍”等在英語(yǔ)中應(yīng)用 army。如：

join [go into] the army 參軍   leave the army 退伍

2. army 在與 navy(海軍)，air force(空軍) 并列時(shí)，特指“陸軍”。如：

We must build up a modern army，navy and air force. 我們必須建設(shè)一支現(xiàn)代化的陸、海、空軍。

注：army 還可指軍隊(duì)建制里“師”以上的“軍”。比較：

3. 由于 troops 側(cè)重指構(gòu)成軍隊(duì)的士兵成員，所以像漢語(yǔ)的“駐軍”、“撤軍”、“派兵”等，英語(yǔ)通常用 troops。如：

He ordered to withdraw the troops. 他命令撤軍。

He decided to send troops to the front. 他決定派兵上前線(xiàn)。

The troops are assembling. 部隊(duì)集合。

雖然 troops 側(cè)重指構(gòu)成軍隊(duì)的士兵成員，但并不指?jìng)€(gè)別士兵，因此它一般不與數(shù)字(尤其是較小的數(shù)字)連用。比如：“兩個(gè)士兵”一般不說(shuō) two troops，而說(shuō) two soldiers。不過(guò) troops 有時(shí)可與較大的數(shù)詞連用，如可說(shuō)：

a hundred troops 100 個(gè)士兵(www.hxen.com)
