Paw prints were seen in a number of places and puma fur was found clinging to bushes. Several people complained of "cat-like noises"at night and a businessman on a fishing trip saw the puma up a tree. The experts were now fully convinced that the animal was a puma, but where had it come from? As no pumas had been reported missing from any zoo in the country, this one must have been in the possession of a private collector and somehow managed to escape. The hunt went on for several weeks, but the puma was not caught. It is disturbing to think that a dangerous wild animal is still at large in the quiet countryside.

  8. Paw prints were seen in a number of places and puma fur was found clinging to bushes.

  prints

The mark of a man's shoe was clearly printed in the mud.

  The fur of this rodent.

  clinging

  adj.

Honestly feedback and serve society in the life trip is the clinging faith of TH.

  bushes

  The rose bushes are budding.

I found a tagboard clinging to my luggage.

Paw prints were seen in a number of places and puma fur was found clinging to bushes.

對比:People saw paw prints in a number of places and found puma fur linging to bushes.

A note was passed up to the speaker.

Some one passed up a note to the speaker.(主動語態(tài),強調(diào)“人”,不突出“紙條”。)

  (1) an increasing number of:An increasing number of students have realised the importance of English application,越來越多的學(xué)生已經(jīng)意識到了英語應(yīng)用的重要性。

  (2) a growing number of:Now,a growing number of Chinese students go abroad for study.

  9. Several people complained of "cat-like noises"at night and a businessman on a fishing trip saw the puma up a tree.

Up a tree作puma的賓語補足語。

  語言點2:此句中出現(xiàn)的cat-like noises與本文第一句中cat-like animals的用法有異曲同工之妙,cat-like animals強調(diào)美洲獅的體形,cat-like noises則強調(diào)美洲獅的聲音。

  (1) There is a man in the tree.

  (2) There are many apples on the tree.

  10. The experts were now fully convinced that the animal was a puma, but where had it come from?

  convinced

  adj.

But not everyone in the India is convinced with the present deal .

  語言點1:句子結(jié)構(gòu)分析:that引導(dǎo)賓語從句,指were convinced的內(nèi)容。

We believe that he will succeed.

We are convinced that he will succeed.

  11. As no pumas had been reported missing from any zoo in the country, this one must have been in the possession of a private collector and somehow managed to escape.

  missing ['misi?]

  adj.

  I found the missing splendor.

  possession [p?'ze??n]

  Open your hand is possession.

  collector [k?'lekt?]

It overcomes a series of problems in transmission of traditional strainometer and collector ring.

  escape [i'skeip]

  vt.

Two were injured, but he escaped.

語言點:句子結(jié)構(gòu)分析:as引導(dǎo)原因狀語從句,不用for引導(dǎo)是為了避免重復(fù)?,F(xiàn)在分詞短語missing from any zoo in the country作主語puma的補足語。主句中的this one指代the missing puma, and連接兩個并列的動作。

  12. The hunt went on for several weeks, but the puma was not caught.

  語言點2:在表示“持續(xù)”時,keep,go on,last continue有區(qū)別:

  (1) keep doing sth

  Tom always kept asking questions.

  My Heart wii Go On.《我心永恒》(電影《泰坦尼克號》主題曲)

Most people believe that the strike wii last for at least a week.

The battle continued for several hours until darkness came on.

  13. It is disturbing to think that a dangerous wild animal is still at large in the quiet countryside.

  disturbing [di'st?:bi?]

  adj.

See if you can pull the cloth off the table without disturbing these glasses.

  (1) It is disturbing to think that…

It is disturbing to think that I will take final examination tomorrow.

  (2) It is irritating to think that…

It is irritating to think that my brother lost his bicycle this tomorrow.

(3)It is exciting to think that…

It is exciting to think that I will get the chance.
