Lesson52 A pretty carpet

We have just moved into a new house and Ihave been working hard all morning. I havebeen trying to get my new room in order. Thishas not been easy because I own over athousand books.To make matters worse, the roomis rather small, so I have temporarily put my bookson the floor. At the moment, they cover every inchof floor space and I actually have to walk on them toget in or out of the room. A short while ago, mysister helped me to carry one of my old bookcasesup the stairs. She went into my room and got a big surprise when she saw all those books onthe floor. 'This is the prettiest carpet I have ever seen,' she said. She gazed at it for some timethen added, 'You don't need bookcases at all. You can sit here in your spare time and read thecarpet!'

1、We have just moved into a new house and I have been working hard all morning.

我們剛剛搬進(jìn)一所新房子，我辛辛苦苦地干了整整一個(gè)上午。

語(yǔ)言點(diǎn) have just moved為現(xiàn)在完成時(shí)，表示“剛剛搬完家”(動(dòng)作已經(jīng)結(jié)束);have been working 為現(xiàn)在完成進(jìn)行時(shí)，表示從過(guò)去到現(xiàn)在一直在進(jìn)行的動(dòng)作。

2、I have been trying to get my new room in order.

我試圖把我的新房間收拾整齊。

語(yǔ)言點(diǎn)“整理，把……變成干凈整潔”的三種表達(dá)：

1) get... in order; 2) put... in order; 3) make... tidy

例：Please give me three minutes to put my desk in order.給我三分鐘時(shí)間，我就可以把我的書(shū)桌收拾干凈。

3、This has not been easy because I own over a thousand books.

但這并不容易，因?yàn)槲矣?000多本書(shū)。

語(yǔ)言點(diǎn) have, own, possess都表示“擁有”，它們的區(qū)別如下：

1) Have = have got 常用在 口語(yǔ)中;

2) own強(qiáng)調(diào)合法地?fù)碛心澄?

3) possess更突出從屬關(guān)系。
