Lesson51 Reward for virtue

My friend, Herbert, has always been fat, but thingsgot so bad recently that he decided to go on a diet.He began his diet a week ago. First of all, he wroteout a long list of all the foods which were forbidden.The list included most of the things Herbert loves:butter, potatoes, rice, beer, milk, chocolate, andsweets. Yesterday I paid him a visit. I rang the belland was not surprised to see that Herbert was stillas fat as ever. He led me into his room andhurriedly hid a large parcel under his desk. Itwas obvious that he was very embarrassed. When I asked him what he was doing, hesmiled guiltily and then put the parcel on the desk. He explained that his diet was so strictthat he had to reward himself occasionally. Then he showed me the contents of the parcel. Itcontained five large bars of chocolate and three bags of sweets!

語言點lead sb. into somewhere把某人領(lǐng)進某地;show sb. out of somewhere把某人帶出某地

語言點 it是形式主語，that引導主語從句，that之后的內(nèi)容是真正的主語。還原為一般句式應(yīng)該是：Hisembarrassment was obvious.

當我問他正干什么時，他內(nèi)疚地笑了，然后把那個大包拿到了桌上。

語言點 句中包含由when引導的時間狀語從句和由what引導的賓語從句。
