Lesson 16 A polite request

課文內(nèi)容：

If you park your car in the wrong place, a trafficpoliceman will soon find it. You will be very lucky if helets you go without a ticket. However, this does notalways happen. Traffic police are sometimes verypolite. During a holiday in Sweden, I found thisnote on my car: Sir, we welcome you to ourcity. This is a "No Parking" area. You will enjoyyour stay here if you pay attention to our streetsigns. This note is only a reminder.' If you receive a request like this, you cannot fail to obeyit!

精講筆記：

4.Traffic police are sometimes very polite.

交警有時也會非常客氣。

語言點1 police是集合名詞，作主語時，謂語動詞一般用復數(shù)形式。

語言點2 polite: refined or elegant客氣的，文雅的

polite的反義詞：impolite，discourteous, unpolished, inelegant

5.During a holiday in Sweden, I found this note on my car: Sir, we welcome you to ourcity.

在瑞典度假期間，我發(fā)現(xiàn)在我的車上有這樣一個字條先生，歡迎您光臨我們的城市。”

語言點1 during后經(jīng)常加表示時間的詞匯，意為“在 期間”：during the summer在暑假里;during theweekend 在周末

語言點2 this note on my car,請注意此處所用介詞是on而不是in,因為違章罰款單一般貼在車身或車窗上，所以用on。in the car 一般指開車或坐車。

語言點3 總結對男士、女士的尊稱：

1) sir為對男士的稱呼，一般單獨使用。(前不可加姓，后可以加姓名。)

2)Mr. +姓，對先生的尊稱，意為“……先生”

3)miss為對未婚女士的尊稱，意為“……小姐”?？蓡为毷褂?，也可加姓名。

4)Mrs. / mistress / madam對已婚女士的尊稱?？蓡为毷褂?，也可后加姓名。

這是一個禁停區(qū)。
