中國(guó)的情人節(jié)剛過(guò)。

David：Ah, the time for lovers to meet.

哦，情人約會(huì)的日子。

You：Yes, it is in the August. I can't rememberwhich day, but I do know that in the Chinese lunarcalendar it's July seven. I don't know which way it isin the solar calendar.

是的，在8月份。我記不清出具體的日子了，但我知道是陰歷七月初七。陽(yáng)歷是哪一天我不知道。

David：Someone told me once about the story behind this special day.

我曾聽(tīng)說(shuō)過(guò)關(guān)于這個(gè)特殊節(jié)日的故事。

You：This's a story of two lovers. They are two stars in the sky.

這是一對(duì)戀人的故事。他們是天空中的兩顆星星。

David：Yes, it is a beautiful story. One was a goddess, the daughter of a god, and one was ashepherd boy. They fell in love next to a stream at first sight. Then they married, and hadchildren, but then the mother or father of the goddess got mad.

多么美的故事。一個(gè)是神仙的女兒，另一個(gè)是個(gè)牧人。他們?cè)谛『舆呉灰?jiàn)鐘情，然后他們結(jié)了婚，有了孩子。但后來(lái)不知道是她的父親還是母親發(fā)怒了。

You：Her mother, yeah. That’s a very beautiful story.

是她母親。是呀，是個(gè)美麗的故事。

David：They were divided to starts on two sides, and only on that day can they see eachother.

他們被變成了兩顆星星，分隔兩地，只有在那一天才能見(jiàn)面。

You：They were sepereted by a river, I mean, the Milky Way.

他們被一條叫“銀河”的天河隔開(kāi)了。

David：The River? No bridge?

河?沒(méi)有橋嗎?

You：No, in Chinese it’s called Yinhe, the SilverRiver.

沒(méi)有。漢語(yǔ)里叫做銀河。

David：You mean the Milky Way. The Milky Way is the English name of our galaxy. At night, thegalaxy appears like a river in the sky.

你是說(shuō)“銀河”——夜晚出現(xiàn)在天空中，就像一條天河。

You：Oh, I see. Anyway, they can meet only once a year on a bridge made by birds. A lot ofbirds come together to form a bridge that the lovers use to meet each other on.

我明白了。就如故事里講的，他們每年在由很多鳥(niǎo)架成的橋上只見(jiàn)一次面。
