CNN News:白宮截獲寄送給奧巴馬的"毒信"

First up, three suspicious letters,

首先是3封可疑的信件,

one was sent to President Obama, the other two were sent to New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and to an organization he founded.

一封寄給奧巴馬總統(tǒng),另外2封寄給紐約市長邁克爾·布隆伯格及他成立的組織。

Initial tests on those two letters indicated they were tainted with a poison called ricin.

而初步檢測稱這2封信被一種稱為蓖麻毒素的毒藥所 “污染”。

As of yesterday afternoon, officials hadn't said whether ricin was found on the letter addressed to the White House, although they did say the letters were similar.

截至昨日下午,雖然官員表示字母相同，但他們沒有透露寄給白宮的信件中是否發(fā)現(xiàn)蓖麻毒素。

Ricin seriously dangerous.

蓖麻毒素極其危險(xiǎn)。

Even a tiny amount of it can kill someone in two days or less by shutting down respiratory or circulatory systems.

哪怕一點(diǎn)點(diǎn)劑量就可以在2天或者更少時(shí)間內(nèi)通過閉塞呼吸或循環(huán)系統(tǒng)致人于死地。

There is no known antidote for it.

目前沒有任何已知的解藥。

You might remember a month or so ago, letters tainted with ricin were sent to the president and other officials.

你可能還記得一個(gè)月或者更早以前,蓖麻毒素污染過的信件寄給總統(tǒng)和其他官員。

Authorities don't think there is a connection between that and the new letter sent to President Obama.

而當(dāng)局認(rèn)為這和寄給奧巴馬總統(tǒng)的新信件沒有任何關(guān)系。

This is a grave concern to us here internationally at WHO because there are so many unknowns around the virus which so far has killed 55 percent of the confirmed cases.

Cases have been linked from the Middle East to the UK, Germany, France and Tunisia.
