Alice was already off the couch, phone in hand, dialing. I stared at the precise rendering of mymother's family room. Uncharacteristically, Jasper slid closer to me.
愛麗絲早已從沙發(fā)上跳起來，手里抓著手機(jī)，開始撥號(hào)。我盯著對(duì)我媽媽家的房間的精準(zhǔn)無比的素描。賈斯帕一反常態(tài)地滑到我身旁更近的地方。
He lightly touched his hand to my shoulder, and the physical contact seemed to make hiscalming influence stronger. The panic stayed dull, unfocused.
他輕輕地把手放到我鑒賞，而這實(shí)際上的接觸似乎把他的冷靜更加強(qiáng)烈地輸送到我身上。恐懼漫無目的地凝聚在原處。
Alice's lips were trembling with the speed of her words, the low buzzing impossible todecipher. I couldn't concentrate.
愛麗絲的嘴唇顫抖著，飛快地說著話，我根本聽不懂那低低的嗡嗡聲。我沒法集中注意力。
"Bella," Alice said. I looked at her numbly.
“貝拉。”愛麗絲說道。我木然地看著她。
"Bella, Edward is coming to get you. He and Emmett and Carlisle are going to take yousomewhere, to hide you for a while."
“貝拉，愛德華會(huì)來接你。他和艾美特還有卡萊爾會(huì)來帶你去某個(gè)地方，讓你躲上一陣子。”
"Edward is coming?" The words were like a life vest, holding my head above the flood.
“愛德華要來?”這句話像一件救生衣，把我的腦子從滾滾洪流里拉了出來。
"Yes, he's catching the first flight out of Seattle. We'll meet him at the airport, and you'll leavewith him."
“是的，他將搭乘從西雅圖起飛的第一班機(jī)。我們會(huì)在機(jī)場(chǎng)和他碰面，然后你跟他走。”
"But, my mother… he came here for my mother, Alice!" Despite Jasper, the hysteria bubbled upin my voice.
“可是，我媽媽……他來這里找我媽媽，愛麗絲!”盡管有賈斯帕在，我的聲音依然因?yàn)榻咚沟桌锒罎⒅?br /> "Jasper and I will stay till she's safe."

"I can't win, Alice. You can't guard everyone I know forever. Don't you see what he's doing?He's not tracking me at all.
“我逃不掉的，愛麗絲。你們不可能一直守衛(wèi)著我認(rèn)識(shí)的每一個(gè)人。你看不出來他在做什么嗎?他根本沒在跟蹤我。
He'll find someone, he'll hurt someone I love… Alice, I can't —"
他會(huì)找到某個(gè)人，他會(huì)傷害我愛著的某個(gè)人……愛麗絲，我不能——”
"We'll catch him, Bella," she assured me.
“我們會(huì)看著他的，貝拉。”她向我保證道。
"And what if you get hurt, Alice? Do you think that's okay with me? Do you think it's only myhuman family he can hurt me with?"
“萬一你受傷了呢，愛麗絲?你以為這對(duì)我來說不痛不癢嗎?你以為他只能通過傷害我的人類家庭來打擊我嗎?”
Alice looked meaningfully at Jasper. A deep, heavy fog of lethargy washed over me, and myeyes closed without my permission.
愛麗絲意味深長地看著賈斯帕。一陣強(qiáng)烈的，沉重的，令人昏昏欲睡的迷霧席卷了我，我的眼睛在未經(jīng)我許可的情況下合上了。
My mind struggled against the fog, realizing what was happening. I forced my eyes open andstood up, stepping away from Jasper's hand.
我的意識(shí)竭力抵御著那陣迷霧，意識(shí)到發(fā)生了什么事。我強(qiáng)迫自己睜開眼睛，站起來，掙脫賈斯帕的手走到一旁。
"I don't want to go back to sleep," I snapped.
“我不想繼續(xù)睡。”我嚷嚷道。
I walked to my room and shut the door, slammed it really, so I could be free to go to piecesprivately. This time Alice didn't follow me.
我走回房間，用力關(guān)上門。我是真的砰地一聲把門撞上的，這樣我就能隨意行事，保留僅有的一點(diǎn)隱私。這次愛麗絲沒有跟著我進(jìn)來。
