這是一首歌者贊頌他愛人的歌曲，他說她是天上人間唯一能夠使他覺得世界是美好的、生命充滿幸福的人。這首歌也是the Platters(五黑寶合唱團)在臺灣五、六○年代最為人知的一首歌。

字詞句型分析

1.darkness n. 黑暗, 不明

例:The house was in complete darkness due to a power failure.

(這房子因停電而一片漆黑。)

2.bright a. 光亮的; 聰明的

例:The garden is bright with sunshine. (花園里陽光普照。)

She is bright beyond her years. (她的聰明超過她的年齡。)

3.Only you, and you alone, can thrill me like you do,...只有妳能使我如此心動……

a.thrill vt. 使感動

例:The scene thrilled the onlookers.(這情景使旁觀者感動。)

thrilling a. 令人震顫的; 令人激動的

例:After hearing this thrilling news, she burst out crying.

(聽到這令人震顫的消息后，她哭了出來。)

b.上句中的like為介系詞, 其后應接名詞或代名詞做其受詞, 其意為『像……』。

例:He studies very hard like Peter.(他像彼得一樣非常用功。)

若用 as 造句, 因其為連接詞, 故后面要接主詞、動詞, 形成副詞子句。

例:He studies very hard as Peter does.(他像彼得一樣非常用功。)

但現(xiàn)在口語中, 甚至在文章中, 常用 like 當做連接詞, 取代 as 的用法, 唯正式英文, 仍用 as 較妥。

例:As/Like I said, Peter can speak five different languages.(正如我所言，彼得能說五種語言。)

故解說 3 中的句子實應為:Only you...can thrill me as you do.

5.destiny n. 命運

destine vt. 使命中注定 (常用于被動語態(tài))

be destined to V　　注定……

例:He was destined never to meet her again.(他命中注定再也見不到她。)

6.magic n. 魔法

例:The fairys magic changed the two brothers into swans.

(仙人的魔法使那兩兄弟變成天鵝。)

7.Youre my dream come true...

→Youre my dream that has come true...妳是我夢想的實現(xiàn)……。

*其中形容詞子句的that has (或which has) 由于經(jīng)常使用, 故通常予以省略
