Claire: What are you doing with all those law books? I thought you retired 20 years ago.

克萊爾：這些法律書(shū)籍，你拿來(lái)做什么?我還以為你的20年前就退休了呢。

Ray: I’m preparing for my mental competency hearing.

雷：我在準(zhǔn)備一場(chǎng)關(guān)于精神健全問(wèn)題的聽(tīng)證會(huì)。

Claire: Mental competency hearing? But your mind is as sharp as it has ever been.

克萊爾：關(guān)于精神健全問(wèn)題的聽(tīng)證會(huì)?可是你的思維依然很敏捷啊。

Ray: That’s not what my children think. They are going to court to prove my diminished capacity. They

are going to argue that I need a conservator for my estate.

雷：可是我的孩子們就不這么想。他們要去法院證明我的能力已經(jīng)減弱。他們會(huì)認(rèn)為,我需要一名看護(hù)員幫我守著自己的家產(chǎn)。

Claire: Nobody who knows you would question your sound mind. There must be another reason for this hearing.

克萊爾：不了解的人才會(huì)質(zhì)疑你的精神健全問(wèn)題。一定還有別的原因。

Ray: You’re right. My children want to get their hands on my money, and if they can prove mental incapacitation and impaired judgment, they will get power of attorney.

雷：你說(shuō)的對(duì)。 我的孩子們想要我的錢(qián)，但是如果他們能證明我的精神上有問(wèn)題，不能做出正確的判斷，那么他們就可以得到律師的幫助，名正言順地拿走我的錢(qián)了。

Claire: And if they get power of attorney…

克萊爾：如果他們得到律師的幫助……

Ray:They would get control of my company and my entire estate.

雷:他們就會(huì)控制我的公司及我的整個(gè)房產(chǎn)。

Claire:So what are you going to do?

克萊爾:那你打算怎么辦?

Ray:I am going to fight fire with fire. I'm suing them.

雷:我要以其人之道還治其人之身。我打算起訴他們。

Claire:What for?

克萊爾:告他們什么?

Ray: Fraud and I can make it stick. They’re both lacking in common sense. Everybody knows you should never sue an attorney, especially a successful one!

雷：詐騙，堅(jiān)定的告他們。他們都缺乏判斷力。人人都知道不應(yīng)該起訴律師，尤其是成功的律師。
