　　At the end of the rope的字面意思是“在繩子的尾端，到了盡頭”，比喻為“山窮水盡，智窮力竭”的意思。此語常用來形容處于束手無策，精疲力竭或忍無可忍的人。表示對某人忍無可忍了，在短語的后面用解詞with，即：at the end of the rope with sb. 表示對某事無計可施，在短語后面用介詞over，即：atthe end of the rope over sth.
