What's on TV Tonight?

1--What's on the box tonight, does anyone know?

2--Oh nothing much. There's Panorama at eight for

an hour.

1--Oh good.

2--And then there's the football at nine twenty-five.

I want to see that.

1--Oh not again! just a minute--what time does it

finish? The last part of that thriller's on the other

side at a quarter to eleven. I'd like to see that.

2--Well the football ends at eleven.

1--You'll have to miss the last fifteen minutes then.

2--You'll probably be asleep by then.

1--No I won't! At least your football doesn't clash

with the new. I always like that on at nine.

1)the box：(口語)指電視機(jī)。

2)Panorama：電視欄目名稱。類似我國

的“世界各地”、“神州風(fēng)采”等電視節(jié)目。

Panorama原義為“a continuous series of

scenes or events”

3)thriller：驚險(xiǎn)故事片(或小說)

4)on the other side：(口語)指另外一個(gè)電視頻道。

5)miss：錯(cuò)過;看不成。

6)be asleep：睡著了。sleepy作“犯困”“疲倦”解，注意

其區(qū)別。

7)clash(with)：接觸;沖突。
