在“六一”國際兒童節(jié)到來之際，中共中央總書記、國家主席、中央軍委主席習(xí)近平代表黨中央，向全國各族少年兒童致以節(jié)日的祝賀。習(xí)近平號召廣大少年兒童刻苦學(xué)習(xí)知識，堅定理想信念，磨練堅強意志，鍛煉強健體魄，為實現(xiàn)中華民族偉大復(fù)興的中國夢時刻準(zhǔn)備著。

“少年強則國強”出自梁啟超寫的《少年中國說》，文中歌頌少年的朝氣蓬勃，熱切希望出現(xiàn)“少年中國”，振奮人民的精神。

一直以來，習(xí)近平總書記高度關(guān)注著青少年的健康成長，期待他們成長為德智體美勞全面發(fā)展的社會主義建設(shè)者和接班人。2014年5月30日，他在北京市海淀區(qū)民族小學(xué)主持召開座談會，引用“少年智則國智，少年富則國富，少年強則國強，少年進步則國進步”，指出少年兒童是祖國的未來，是中華民族的希望。
