紐約恐襲 8人喪生

紐約當?shù)貢r間10月31日下午，紐約市曼哈頓下城世貿(mào)中心附近發(fā)生汽車撞人事件，現(xiàn)已造成8人死亡10多人受傷。紐約市市長已將此次事件定性為恐怖襲擊。

Eight people were killed and more than a dozen injured after a man drove a truck nearly a mile down a bike path in Manhattan on Tuesday afternoon, striking pedestrians, cyclists and a school bus.

Shortly after 15:00 local time (19:00 GMT), a vehicle rented from retailer Home Depot struck cyclists and pedestrians while being driven along the West St-Houston St path for many blocks

The vehicle then hit a school bus, injuring two adults and two children on board, and came to a halt

The driver emerged holding what appeared to be two handguns

He was shot in the abdomen by a police officer stationed near the scene

A paintball gun and a pellet gun were recovered from the scene

The victims included one Belgian and five Argentinian citizens

The suspect was said to be Sayfullo Saipov, an Uzbek national, according to the Associated Press (AP)

Saipov was said to have entered the US in 2010. He has a Florida license but may have been living in New Jersey

At the moment the New York authorities are saying that was a lone wolf, that it wasn't part of a wide conspiracy or plot

The suspect was said to be an Uber driver, and the company has confirmed that. He has now been banned from the app, it says.

紐約市長白思豪表示，該事件按恐怖襲擊處置，是“一個及其懦弱的恐怖行為(a particularly cowardly act of terror)”。

襲擊發(fā)生的現(xiàn)場距離紐約萬圣節(jié)大游行舉辦地格林威治村僅隔6個街區(qū)，紐約政府表示，已經(jīng)加派力量加強警戒(resources were being deployed out of an “abundance of caution")，萬圣節(jié)大游行將如期進行。
