超重的一代：上大學長胖，休假也長胖

15 is said to be the number of pounds that many students gain in their first year of college; and freshman 15 is the often observed phenomenon of weight gain among first year college students.

據(jù)說，之所以會出現(xiàn)15這個數(shù)字是因為很多學生在大一這一年體重會增加15磅(約13斤);而freshman 15則指代學生上大一時體重增加這個現(xiàn)象。

除此之外，上班族在休假期間長胖的可能性也很高，大概是因為休假期間神經(jīng)放松，出去玩的時候又經(jīng)受不住美食的誘惑吧。

Holiday pounds refer to the extra little bit of weight you put on during a period of being on holiday or vacation.

Holiday pounds指休假或者節(jié)假日期間額外增長的那部分體重，我們可以戲稱為“假期胖子”。

所以呢，挺容易長胖的這一代人就有了個名字叫Genaration XL。XL什么意思?出去買衣服的時候就知道了!

Generation XL refers to children or young adults who are overweight, XL refers to the size extra large in clothing.

Generation XL指體重超重的兒童或年輕人，即“超大碼一代”或“超重的一代”，XL代表衣服尺寸中的超大碼。

Like college freshmen who get fat from too much dorm food and too little activity, many cubicle potatoes lead very unhealthy lives. They have erratic eating habits and indulge in too much late-afternoon or late-night high-fat snacking. They are only half joking when they say their only physical activity is surfing the Internet.

跟吃太多宿舍食品和運動太少而長胖的大學新生一樣，很多整天待在格子間的員工都過著很不健康的生活。他們飲食不規(guī)律，經(jīng)常在下午或者深夜吃很多高熱量的零食。他們開玩笑說他們唯一的體育運動是網(wǎng)上沖浪，其實這玩笑有一半說的是事實。
