Even when penciling in a loss to Michigan on Sept. 7 — and even that's no sure thing; Oklahoma can attest to Army's ability — the Black Knights are destined for double-digit wins and another dominant season in the chase for the Commander-in-Chief's Trophy. Yes, part of that stems from a less-than-difficult schedule: Army plays the Wolverines and rivals Air Force and Navy but not much else, with a slate otherwise dotted with an interesting road trip to Hawaii and a slew of second-tier teams from the Group of Five and elsewhere. While the flimsy schedule will keep Army from rising far off the back end of the Top 25, this is a team worthy of a national ranking.

Nebraska

Scott Frost's second team will undoubtedly be better than his first, with the rate of improvement hinging on a handful of factors: quarterback Adrian Martinez's health, the play of the offensive line and the predicted strides seen from the defensive front seven. The only question: Is this an eight-win team or a team capable of going beyond merely a Big Ten West championship and knocking on the door of the New Year's Six? The latter seems premature, but the Cornhuskers will be in strong contention for the third spot in the Big Ten behind Ohio State and Michigan.

Boise State

This is a safe bet: Boise State has won at least eight games in every year since 1999 and finished ranked in the final Coaches Poll in 12 of the past 17 seasons. While the Broncos are young and unproven in the offensive backfield, Bryan Harsin's team returns the core of an outstanding defense and enough experience to weather the depth of the Mountain West to challenge Central Florida for Group of Five supremacy. A season-opening matchup against Florida State should be a good indicator of how far it can go.
