職場英語：說點(diǎn)實(shí)在的員工最不愛聽的場面話

The nonsense phrases used by bosses not only leave workers confused, they make them angry too.

老板說的一些廢話不僅讓員工困惑，還讓他們感到憤怒。

For old gobbledygook is merely being replaced with new, equally annoying banalities – so instead of asking staff to "push the envelope", bosses wanting the most to be made of a situation now encourage them to "squeeze the toothpaste".

為了讓過時(shí)的官話與時(shí)俱進(jìn)——更新成一些新的討人厭的陳詞濫調(diào)，老板不再讓員工“挑戰(zhàn)極限”，而是鼓勵(lì)他們“擠牙膏”以達(dá)到拼盡全力的目的。

One of the most complained-about phrases is: "Let’s run this up the flagpole and see who sails it", as a means of suggesting a discussion of an idea and gauging reaction to it.

這些陳詞濫調(diào)中，被抱怨最多的一句話有：“讓我們看看誰能拔得頭籌!”這句話通常用來建議員工對(duì)一個(gè)想法進(jìn)行討論，并試探大家對(duì)此的反應(yīng)。

The statement "There is no 'I' in team" to encourage people to work together is among the most hated expressions, as well as "bring it to the table" and "mission critical".

此外，用來鼓勵(lì)大家團(tuán)隊(duì)協(xié)作的“在我們的團(tuán)隊(duì)中沒有‘個(gè)人’”以及“讓我們拿到桌面上來談”“這個(gè)任務(wù)至關(guān)重要”也是最為員工討厭的職場官話。

Spokesman Steve Jenner said the Plain English Campaign has received a steady stream of emails this year from workers in sectors including education and banking.

"Management gobbledygook is a complete distraction, partly to try to impress people or make them appear clever - when they are not," he said.

Trite comments such as "squeeze the toothpaste" betray a real lack of thought. People at work crave to feel valued, not reduced to some kind of basic household commodity.

諸如“擠牙膏”之類的老生常談確實(shí)是欠缺考慮的。人們在工作中總是渴望體現(xiàn)自我價(jià)值，而不是淪為牙膏這種生活日用品。
