I want to send my best wishes to everyone in Britain,China and around the world celebrating Chinese NewYear.

我在此向英國、中國以及全世界慶祝農(nóng)歷新年的所有人致以最美好的祝愿。

From the fairs in Beijing, to the fireworks in HongKong and the parades here in London, families andcommunities will come together and look to the yearahead – the Year of the Rooster.

無論是在北京游覽廟會(huì)，在香港觀賞煙花，還是在倫敦參加慶典巡游，親人和社區(qū)都將歡聚一堂，期待新的一年——雞年的到來。

And what a year it is set to be – particularly for the relationship between Britain and China.

那么我們對(duì)這一年，特別是對(duì)中英關(guān)系來說，會(huì)有什么樣的展望?

Our starting point is stronger than ever before. We had the historic state visit of President Xijust 15 months ago. We receive more Chinese investment than any other major Europeancountry. We've got around 150,000 Chinese students studying here and the number ofChinese tourists visiting has doubled in 5 years.

這一年，我們的起點(diǎn)比以往任何時(shí)候都高。就在15個(gè)月前，我們剛剛迎接了習(xí)主席對(duì)英國進(jìn)行的歷史性國事訪問。我們獲得的中國投資比其他主要?dú)W洲國家都要多。大約有15萬中國學(xué)生在英國學(xué)習(xí)，而前往英國旅游的中國游客則在過去5年內(nèi)翻了一番。

Meanwhile, as permanent members of the UN Security Council, our countries are workingtogether on the most pressing global issues.

與此同時(shí)，中英作為聯(lián)合國安理會(huì)常任理事國，在最為緊迫的國際事務(wù)上進(jìn)行著緊密的合作。

This year also marks some important anniversaries: 20 years since the handover of Hong Kongto China; and 45 years of ambassadorial relations between our countries.

今年也迎來了一些重要的周年紀(jì)念日。香港回歸中國20周年，以及中英兩國建立大使級(jí)外交關(guān)系45周年。

I want us to take this chance to build on all the ties we share – in business, diplomacy,education, tourism and culture – as we forge a new role for Britain, as the most outward-looking, free-trading nation in the world.

我希望能夠借此機(jī)會(huì)在商業(yè)、外交、教育、旅游和文化方面進(jìn)一步增強(qiáng)我們的聯(lián)系。現(xiàn)在，我們正在為英國打造一個(gè)新的角色，使之成為世界上最具外向型的自由貿(mào)易國家。

Indeed, I look forward to making another visit to China, following my trip to Hangzhou last year,which was my first visit outside Europe as Prime Minister and my first meeting with President Xi.

繼去年訪問杭州之后，我非常期待再次訪問中國。杭州之行是我任首相以來在歐洲以外的第一次訪問，也是我與習(xí)主席的第一次會(huì)晤。

And it is an auspicious time. The Rooster – the Fire Rooster – represents so many of thecharacteristics we need to employ in that endeavour: openness, confidence, hard work andleadership.

這也是一個(gè)吉祥的時(shí)刻。雞——“火”雞——象征著我們?cè)趭^斗中需要具備的多種品格：開放、自信、勤奮和領(lǐng)導(dǎo)力。

These aren't alien concepts to any of us. Indeed, they are characteristics demonstrated day in,day out by the British Chinese community.

這些品格對(duì)于我們所有人來說都不陌生。這些品格每時(shí)每刻都被在英華人所展示。

For this is a community that makes an enormous contribution to our society – proving thatthe strength and success of this country rests on dedication, diversity and a deep spirit ofcitizenship among our people.

華人社區(qū)為我們的社會(huì)做出了巨大的貢獻(xiàn)。這證明我們國家的優(yōu)勢和成功是建立在人民的奉獻(xiàn)、多元化和深刻的公民精神之上。

So as the lanterns are lit and the dumplings are served, let me wish you and your family,wherever you are, a very happy and healthy New Year.

在這火紅的燈籠被點(diǎn)亮，熱氣騰騰的餃子被端上來的時(shí)刻，我祝愿你們和你們的家人，無論在哪里，都會(huì)享有一個(gè)快樂、健康的新年。
