（1）表示能力

He can speak Spanish，but he can’t speak Russian.他會(huì)說(shuō)西班牙語(yǔ)，但不會(huì)說(shuō)俄語(yǔ)。

He could swim when he was five.他五歲時(shí)就會(huì)游泳了。

（2）表示許可

Can you carry the bag for me？ 你來(lái)替我提包好嗎？

Could/Can I use your pen？ 我可以借用你的鋼筆嗎？

Yes，of course you can.當(dāng)然可以。

【提示】 答語(yǔ)中不可用could，只用 can。

（3）表示推測(cè)

The road can be blocked.路可能會(huì)堵塞。

Can it be true？ 那會(huì)是真的嗎？

（4）could用于虛擬語(yǔ)氣中

If I could fly，I should be very glad.如果我能飛，我將會(huì)很高興。

He could have passed the exam，but he was too careless.本來(lái)他能夠通過(guò)考試，但他太粗心了。

3.can’t構(gòu)成的句式

（1）“can’t+be/do+比較級(jí)”，表示最高級(jí)，意為“再?zèng)]有……比……更”。

He can’t be more careless.他太粗心了。

I can’t thank you a little more.太感謝您了。

I can’t think of a better idea.那個(gè)主意真是太好了。

The job couldn’t have been easier.這工作再容易不過(guò)了。

【提示】 “couldn’t+have+過(guò)去分詞+比較級(jí)” 是對(duì)過(guò)去情況加以強(qiáng)調(diào)。

（2）“can’t+do+too/enough”，意為“無(wú)論怎樣也不過(guò)分”。

I can’t praise this film highly enough.這部電影無(wú)論怎樣贊揚(yáng)也不過(guò)分。

I can’t praise this film too much.

I can hardly praise this film too highly.

（3）“can’t+help/resist/avoid/keep from+doing”，意為“不得不；禁不住”。

She can’t help thinking so.她不得不這樣想。

Hearing that，every one of us could not resist laughing.

聽(tīng)到這件事，大家都忍不住笑了。

I can’t avoid meeting him.我不得不與他會(huì)面。

I can’t keep from thinking of you at times.我有時(shí)會(huì)情不自禁地想到你。

（4）“can’t （choose）+but+do”，意為“除此以外，別無(wú)他法”。

I couldn’t but laugh on seeing such a funny sight.

看到這樣滑稽的情景，我忍不住笑了。

I couldn’t help but realize that something was wrong.我不禁認(rèn)識(shí)到出了毛病。

They can’t choose but go.他們不得不去。

4.can與be able to的區(qū)別

（1）can則強(qiáng)調(diào)自身已具有的能力，be able to 強(qiáng)調(diào)通過(guò)努力而獲得的能力。

She can sing the song in English.她能用英語(yǔ)唱這首歌。

He will be able to sing the song in English after a few hours’ practice.

幾小時(shí)的練習(xí)之后，他也能用英語(yǔ)唱這首歌。

（2）be able to 可以有各種時(shí)態(tài)；而can只有一般現(xiàn)在和一般過(guò)去兩種時(shí)態(tài)。

Can you see it there？ 你能看見(jiàn)它在那兒?jiǎn)幔?/p>

I could help you last night，but you didn’t come.昨天晚上我能幫你，而你又沒(méi)來(lái)。

He is/was/will be able to help you.他能幫你的忙。
