三、定冠詞用于固定句式中

1.the+比較級，the+比較級

The sooner，the better.越快越好。

The more，the better.越多越好。

The more he gives his children，the more they want.給孩子越多，他們要的越多。

The higher we stand，the farther we see.站得越高，看得越遠(yuǎn)。

The more he explains，the more I am puzzled.他越解釋，我越迷惑。

The harder you work，the more progress you’ll make.越努力，你取得的進(jìn)步就越大。

2.動(dòng)詞+sb.+介詞+the+身體部位

catch sb.by the collar 抓著某人的領(lǐng)子　　　cut sb.in the hand 割某人的手

lead sb.by the arm 拉著某人的胳膊　　　　　lead the cow by the nose 牽著牛鼻子

pat sb.on the shoulder 拍某人的肩膀　　　　take sb.by the throat 扼住某人的咽喉

hit sb.in the arm/eye/face/leg 打某人的胳膊/眼睛/臉/腿

hit sb.on the back/head/nose 打某人的脊背/頭/鼻子

【提示】 “動(dòng)詞+sb.+介詞+the+身體部位”句式中，不能用形容詞性物主代詞代替the。

3.“the+整十?dāng)?shù)詞復(fù)數(shù)”，表示年代

He moved to the south in the fifties.他于50年代搬到了南方。

The war broke out in the 1980s.戰(zhàn)爭爆發(fā)于20世紀(jì)80年代。

【提示】 表示“某人……歲”時(shí)，用“in+one’s+整十的數(shù)詞復(fù)數(shù)”。

in my teens 我十幾歲時(shí) in her thirties 她三十幾歲時(shí)

4.表示具體計(jì)量

（1）by the hour 按小時(shí)　　　by the day 按天　　　　by the week 按周

　　 by the month 按月　　　 by the year 按年

（2）by the metre 按米　　　 by the foot 按英尺　　 by the yard 按碼

（3）by the dozen 按打　　　 by the pound 按英鎊

【提示】 by size（按大?。┖蚥y weight（按重量）中不用冠詞。

5.用于固定短語

（1）時(shí)間短語

all the time 一直　　　　　　　　 at the age of 在……歲時(shí)

at the beginning of 在……開頭　　　at the end of 在……結(jié)束時(shí)

at the same time 同時(shí)　　　　　　 at the moment 此刻

in the meantime 同時(shí)　　　　　　　in the past 在過去

for the time being 暫時(shí)

（2）狀態(tài)短語

on the air 正在廣播　　　　　　　 on the decrease 在減少

on the fall 在下跌中　　　　　　　on the flow 在漲潮

on the fly 正在飛行　　　　　　　 on the go 四處奔走

on the rise 在上漲中　　　　　　　on the run 奔走在逃亡中
