一、不定冠詞的用法

1.不定冠詞表示類別

（1）泛指一類人或一類物。

A man is more intelligent than an animal.人比動物聰明。

We need a boy to do the work.我們需要男孩來做這工作。

【比較】 馬是有用的動物。

①A horse is a useful animal.（“a+單數(shù)名詞”表示一類）

②Horses are useful animals.（“復數(shù)名詞”表示一類）

③The horse is a useful animal.（“the+單數(shù)名詞”表示一類）

（2）用于專有名詞前，表示“某一個”。

A Mr Smith wants to see you.一位名叫史密斯的先生想見你。

He thought he was a Zhuge Liang.他自以為是諸葛亮。

I want to be a Bill Gates.我想成為比爾·蓋茨式的人物。

The story was set on a September in the 1980s.

這個故事發(fā)生在二十世紀八十年代的某個九月。

【提示】 a相當于“a certain或some”。

2.不定冠詞表示數(shù)量

（1）表示數(shù)量“一”的概念。

I’ll be able to finish it in a day or two.在一兩天內(nèi)我會完成此事。

It took us an hour and a half to get there.去那兒花了我們一個半小時。

Speaking of Tom，he isn’t my cousin.He is a friend of mine.

談起湯姆，他不是我的堂弟。他只是我的一位朋友。

【比較】

①A girl can do that.女孩也能做那事。（冠詞a/an：側重指類別）

②One girl can do that.一個女孩足以做那事。（數(shù)詞one：側重指數(shù)量）

（2）與表示時間或度量衡的名詞連用表示“每一”。

每周一次：once a week/once each week/once every week/once per week

一周幾次：once a week 一周一次；　　 twice a week 一周兩次；

　　　　　three times a week 一周三次；four times a week 一周四次

The speed of cars in the city is limited to 40 kilometers an hour.

城市中，汽車的最高限速為每小時40公里。

Brush your teeth twice a day at least.每天至少要刷牙兩次。

They are sold at two dollars a dozen.它們的售價是每打兩美元。

3.不定冠詞的其他用法

（1）用于序數(shù)詞之前，表示“再一”之意。

Soon I saw a second plane.不久我又看到了另一架飛機。

Inspired by the spider，Bruce tried a seventh time.

受蜘蛛的啟發(fā)，布魯斯進行了第七次嘗試。

【比較】

①This is the second time that I’ve read the book.這是我第二次看這本書。（順序）

②Do you want to read it a third time？ 你還想再看一遍嗎？（再一次）

（2）用于形容詞最高級前不表示最高級，意為“非?！?、“很”。

This is a most interesting story.這是一個極為動人的故事。

It is a most important question.這是個非常重要的問題。

It’s a fastest car.它是輛非常快的車。

（3）用于物質名詞的數(shù)量化。

I’d like a tea and two coffees.請給我一杯茶和兩杯咖啡。

She wants a tomato soup.她要了一份番茄湯。

（4）用于抽象名詞的具體化。

The party was a great success.晚會開得很成功。

It’s a pleasure to work with you.與你一起工作是件樂事。
