談another, other, more修飾數(shù)詞的用法

　　If you want to change for a double room you'll have to pay ____ $15.

　　A.another B.other C.more D.each

　　該句的意思是“如果要換一個雙人間，你還需再付15美元”。從題干“change for”可知已訂過房間，現(xiàn)在要換只需再加15美元就行了。備選項D的意思是“每個”，不符合題意，A、B、C都可修飾數(shù)詞，表“額外的、另外的”意思，它們之間的差別在于修飾數(shù)詞的位置不同，這也正是本題的考查重點，現(xiàn)對another，other，more的這種用法歸納如下：

　　一、another

　　another表“另一個”時只跟可數(shù)名詞單數(shù)，而表“另外的、額外的、附加的”之意時，可跟帶有few或具體數(shù)字的復(fù)數(shù)名詞，此時可把“數(shù)詞+復(fù)數(shù)名詞”看作是一個整體。如：

　　1.—Have you finished your report yet?

　　—你的報告完了嗎?

　　—No，I will finish it in 10 minutes.

　　—沒有，還需10分鐘。

　　2.The strike may last another three days.罷工可能還要持續(xù)三天。

　　3.There is room for another few people in the back of the bus.公共汽車后面還能坐下幾個人。

　　4.I'll be here for another few weeks.我在這兒還要呆幾個禮拜。

　　二、other

　　表“另外的”接復(fù)數(shù)名詞，如與具體數(shù)詞連用，則置于數(shù)詞之后，但與定冠詞the連用時，other要放在數(shù)詞前。如：

　　1.Tony is going camping with ____boys next Sunday.托尼將于下周日與另外兩個男孩一起去野營。

　　A.little two other B.two little other

　　C.two other little D.little other two

　　2.Mr Smith asked me to fetch three other recorders.史密斯先生讓我再拿三臺錄音機(jī)來。

　　3.Do you know where he found the other two photos?你知道他是在哪兒找到另外兩張照片的呢?

　　三、more

　　1.more一般位于數(shù)詞之后名詞前，有時也可置于名詞之后。如：

　　(1)She has got five more electric fans.她還有五臺電扇。

　　(2)One more step(One step more)，and I'll shoot you.再走一步，我就開槍打死你。

　　(3)Where shall we be in ten more years?再過十年，我們會在什么地方呢?

　　2.more除跟數(shù)詞外，還可與a little，a few，a lot，several等詞連用，而且名詞也可是不可數(shù)名詞。如：

　　(1)I'd like to buy a few more copies of English Weekly.我想再買幾份《英語周報》。

　　(2)There are many more dictionaries on the desk.課桌上有許多詞典。

　　(3)Would you like some more tea?再喝點茶好嗎?

　　四、名詞省略

　　如果前后意思清楚，another或more后面的名詞可以省去。如：

　　1.I climbed the stairs slowly，carrying a big suitcase，my father following with two more.我拎著一個大手提箱，所以爬樓梯很慢。父親跟在后面，拎著另外兩個手提箱。(NMET2000完形填空正文首句)

　　2.I have had one cup of coffee，but I'd like another.我喝了一杯咖啡，還想再來一杯。

　　3.I should like to have many more(books).我想多要幾本書。

　　從以上分析，我們不難看出NMET2000第16題應(yīng)該選A。
