 What is new slimming fashion 什么是減肥新時尚
     Weight loss, in the context of medicine, health or physical fitness, is a reduction of the total body mass, due to a mean loss of fluid, body fat or adipose tissue and/or lean mass, namely bone mineral deposits, muscle, tendon and other connective tissue. It can occur unintentionally due to an underlying disease or can arise from a conscious effort to improve an actual or perceived overweight or obese state.
     The least intrusive weight loss methods and those most often recommended are adjustments to eating patterns and increased physical activity, generally in the form of exercise. Physicians will usually recommend that their overweight patients combine a reduction of processed foods and caloric content of the diet with an increase in physical activity.
     An increase in fiber intake is also recommended for regulating bowel movements.
     Other methods of weight loss include use of drugs and supplements that decrease appetite, block fat absorption, or reduce stomach volume. Application of such medications, however, should only be performed under the strict supervision of a physician and/or specialist.
     Finally, surgery (i.e. bariatric surgery) may be used in more severe cases to artificially reduce the size of the stomach, thus limiting the intake of food energy.
     Dietary supplements, though widely used, are not considered a healthy option for weight loss. Even though a wide array of these products is available to the public, very few are effective long terms.
     Bariatric surgery is usually considered a last resort in treating severe obesity and it consists of two main procedures: gastric bypass and gastric banding.
     Virtual gastric band uses hypnosis to make the brain think the stomach is smaller than it really is and hence lower the amount of food ingested. This brings as a consequence weight reduction. This method is complemented with psychological treatment for anxiety management and with hypnopedia. In 1996 a study revealed that hypnosis reinforced with cognitive-behavioral therapy was more effective than just CBT for weight reduction.
     對減肥最有效的運動就是有氧運動(aerobic exercise),它能夠幫助燃燒脂肪(fire panic),提高人體新陳代謝(metabolism)。想減肥的朋友們記得多做些戶外健身運動。對減肥最有效的運動就是有氧運動,尤其是消耗能量較多的運動,例如慢跑(jogging)、爬山(mountain climbing)、快步走、球類運動、游泳等,每次運動最好一次持續(xù)做完,中間不要停止,且每次運動消耗熱量(calorie)須達300千卡,通常這種運動量會造成心跳加快或流汗的程度。運動會提高人體的新陳代謝率,但其效果最多只有兩天,因此運動最重要的是要持之以恒(persevere),如果不能每天做,最少也要兩天做一次。對于一個很胖的人來說,即使是走路可能都是很大負擔,因此選擇運動種類時,要量力而為,還以身體能負荷(load)為主,逐漸加大運動量,以免心臟肺臟負荷不了,或是肌肉關節(jié)(muscle and joint)受傷。
     此外,減肥的方法還包括藥物減肥、飲食減肥、中醫(yī)減肥和手術減肥。

     Jessica: No. Limitation of food is harmful to health. I loose weight mainly through exercise and scientific diet.

     Phebe: What exercises do you do everyday?
     菲比:你每天都做什么運動?
     Jessica: I jog for one hour every morning and stroll for half an hour after lunch and supper. I also learn yoga on weekends.
     杰西卡:每天早上我會慢跑一個小時,午飯和晚飯后散步半個小時,周末還會去學瑜伽。
     Phebe: Doing exercise everyday must be tired; won't it make you eat more?
     菲比:每天運動一定很累,難道不會吃更多的東西嗎?
     Jessica: I have three meals at fixed time and quantity, and eat some fruits when feel hungry.
     杰西卡:我一日三餐都是定時定量的。平時餓了就吃水果。
     Phebe: My friend recommends me a weight-reducing medicine, and the effect seems well.

     Jessica: Losing weight by medicines is bad for our health. Many of these medicines are not tested by the supervision department and don't fit for the regulation. These medicines not only can't reach the effect of losing weight, but bear serious side effects.
     杰西卡:藥物減肥對身體不好。這些藥沒有經過藥品監(jiān)督部門的檢測,不符合規(guī)定。有些藥不僅達不到減肥的效果,還會有很嚴重的副作用。
     Phebe: Really? We should be cautious. Well, have you ever heard about acupuncture?

     Jessica: Yes. Acupuncture can lose weight by traditional Chinese medical science.

     Phebe: Acupuncture is a relative save and reliable way of losing weight.

     Jessica: Yes, compared with medicine and diet limitation, acupuncture has little side effect. But it will be hurt.
     杰西卡:是的,和藥物、節(jié)食相比,針灸減肥的確有較小的副作用。不過那樣應該會痛。
     Phebe: It won't be hurt if you find out the right acupuncture point.
     菲比:只要找準穴位就不會有明顯的疼痛感。
     Jessica: You must choose the regular medical institution to take this acupuncture. The beauty parlor is unreliable.
     杰西卡:如果要使用針灸減肥法就一定要到正規(guī)的醫(yī)療機構,那些美容院不可信。
     Phebe: I can't agree more.
