【情景再現(xiàn)】

Catherine今天來(lái)公司上班啦 不幸的是 她第一天就遲到了 不過(guò)幸好 老板沒(méi)有發(fā)現(xiàn) 同事告訴她 以后要小心 盡量不要再遲到了 并對(duì)她說(shuō) The boss laid down the law today  catherine 心想 這里的law應(yīng)該不是指法律 而這里的規(guī)章制度吧  為了以防萬(wàn)一 她問(wèn)了問(wèn)同事 確認(rèn)了一下

Jack: You'd better watch out.The boss laid down the law today.
Jack: 你最好當(dāng)心點(diǎn)  老板今天立下了規(guī)矩
Catherine:Does the law mean the rules in this company ?I'm not very sure about it
Catherine: 你說(shuō)的LAW是指這里的規(guī)章制度嗎？我不太確定這個(gè)
Jack: Yes ,you are right .The boss is very strict with us  .Don't be late for work next time.
Jack: 對(duì)，你說(shuō)的對(duì)。這里的老板非常嚴(yán)格 下次上班別再遲到了
