in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of China on this beautiful evening.

I wish to express,on behalf of the Chinese Government and people,
我代表中國政府和人民，
warm welcome to all of you who hae come here
for the Fortune Global Forum 2001 sponsored by AOL Time Warner.
向前來參加國在線時代華納集團(tuán)舉辦的“2001《財富》全球論壇”活動的朋友們，表示熱烈的歡迎！
3 The theme fo this Forum,"Next Generation Asia"
3 這次論壇的主題“亞洲新一代”，是很有意義的。
is of great significance,for the development of Asia
bears on the development and prosperity of all countries and regions
not only in this continent but also worldwide.
亞洲的發(fā)展，不僅關(guān)系亞洲各國各地區(qū)的發(fā)展和繁榮，也關(guān)系世界的發(fā)展和繁榮。
4 In the course of the 20th century,
4 在二十世紀(jì)的百年歷程中，
we Asian people waged an unyielding struggle
to win national independence and liberation,
亞洲人民為爭取國家獨立和民族解放，
get rid of poverty and backwardness,
and bring about development and prosperity,
and scored remarkable achievements.
為擺脫貧窮落后，實現(xiàn)發(fā)展繁榮，進(jìn)行了不屈不撓的斗爭，取得了舉世矚目的成就，
All this has contributed significantly to peace and development in Asia
and the world at large.
為亞洲和世界的和平與發(fā)展作出了重大貢獻(xiàn)。
The tremendous change and rise of Asia are a great miracle
that the Asian people have created and an important landmark
in the world development and progress of the 20th century.
亞洲的巨變和興起，是亞洲人民創(chuàng)造的偉大奇跡，也是二十世紀(jì)世界發(fā)展和進(jìn)步的一個重要標(biāo)志。
5 Currently,the world is moving deep into multipolarity,
economic globalization is developing further
and science and technology are advancing rapidly.
5 當(dāng)前，世界多極化和經(jīng)濟(jì)全球化深入發(fā)展，科學(xué)技術(shù)突飛猛進(jìn)，
This has presented both new opportunities and challenges
to the development of Asia.
給亞洲的發(fā)展帶來新的機(jī)遇，也帶來新的挑戰(zhàn)。
6 I hope that all of us here today will join hands
6 我希望，在座各位，以及一切愛好和平的人們攜起手來，
with all other peace-loving people and work for a lasting world peace
and common development and prosperity of all nations and regions.
為共同促進(jìn)世界的持久和平和各國各地區(qū)的普遍發(fā)展與繁榮而努力！
