　　老子 道德經(jīng) 第二十六章 英譯

　　【原文】

　　重為輕根，靜為躁君。

　　是以君子終日行不離靜重。雖有榮觀，燕處超然。奈何萬乘之主，而以身輕天下?

　　輕則失根，躁則失君。

　　【現(xiàn)代漢語】

　　純樸持重能抑制恣意放縱，靜定能抑制浮躁。

　　因此圣人一貫秉持純樸厚重與靜定，盡管有奢華生活的誘惑，卻能不為所動，泰然安于清靜恬淡的生活?？缮頌榇髧木?，卻不能擺脫聲色物欲，恣意放縱，而輕視怠慢國家和百姓。

　　放縱貪欲就會失去根本，浮躁就會失去君子的本色。

　　【英譯】

　　Discreet and still attitude can restrain self-indulgent and fickle behavior.

　　So the sages always persevere in keeping their heart discreet and still. They live leisurely and undisturbed even though there is luxury life to enjoy.

　　But, the emperor of big country can not get rid of greed, and despises his country and people.

　　In frivolity and greed, the root of personality is lost; in hasty and fickle action, self-mastery is lost.
