"富人"如何翻譯為英語?請看《中國日報》的報道：

High-rollers in Beijing need to spend at least 87 million yuan on property, cars and other luxury goods in order to be regarded as one of the city's "new aristocrats", or upper class, the report said.

報告稱，為了成為他人眼中的城市"新貴族"或上等階層的一員，北京的富人至少要在房產(chǎn)、汽車和其他奢侈品上花掉8700萬元。

在上面的報道中，high-roller就是指"富人"。此外，high-roller還經(jīng)常用來指"揮金如土的人"和"狂賭的人"。例如：The son of our dean is a high roller.(我們主任的兒子揮金如土。)Arnold has always been a high roller when it comes to gambling.(賭博時，阿諾德總是不考慮后果亂下賭注。)

表示"揮金如土的人"還可以用free-spender，squanderer和bleeding cully來表示。其中bleeding cully可譯為"出血的呆瓜"，暗含錢被騙走的意思。
