向友人描述亞洲之行函

Dear Joyce,

Here I am in Asia! I’m still in Thailand now; I’ve been here for two weeks already. I went to an island in the south called Phuket for a little over a week. It has really great beaches. I spent my days lying on the beach and my nights drinking beer and watching videos in the bars. After that I came back here to Bangkok. It’s crowded and polluted, but there are some really interesting temples and palaces. I’ve never seen anything like them. One has a two-ton Buddha made of solid gold!

Yesterday I took a day trip to Ayuthaya, the former capital. It has some incredible ruined temples. I’m getting ready to fly to Nepal next week; my next letter will probably be from there. If you write to me, send your letters to me poste restante at the Bangkok General Post Office. I’ll pick them up when I get back to Thailand at the end of next month.

我到亞洲了!現(xiàn)在我還待在泰國(guó);我已經(jīng)到這里兩個(gè)星期了。我去了南部一個(gè)叫普吉的小島一個(gè)多星期。那里有很棒的海灘。我白天躺在海灘上，晚上到酒吧里喝啤酒、看錄像帶。之后我便回到曼谷。這里很擁擠而且污染嚴(yán)重，不過有一些挺有趣的廟宇和宮殿。我從未看過任何類似的建筑物。其中有一間廟有一座由兩噸純金打造成的佛陀。

昨天我到故都阿猶他亞玩了一天。那里有一些令人難以置信的荒廢廟宇。我下星期準(zhǔn)備飛到尼泊爾;下次給你的信可能就會(huì)從那里寄出。你如果要寫信給我，把信寄到曼谷郵政總局郵件留局待領(lǐng)處，等我下個(gè)月底回到泰國(guó)時(shí)會(huì)去領(lǐng)。
