去除表示人物的從句

除了介詞短語(yǔ)、不定式、現(xiàn)在分詞、過去分詞可以修飾名詞以外，從句也可以修飾名詞。修飾人物的關(guān)系代詞有who, whom, whose 和that。它們引導(dǎo)的從句如果是修飾名詞的從句時(shí)，我們就可以將這些關(guān)系代詞引導(dǎo)的從句刪去。

①The boy who (that) was late for work was scolded by our manager.

②The boy whom our manager scolded was late for work.

③The boy whose clock didn't work was late for work.

The boy 后面的關(guān)系代詞引導(dǎo)的從句都是定語(yǔ)從句，修飾the boy，所以可以刪去。以上三個(gè)句子刪去從句和其他修飾信息以后是這樣的：

①The boy was scolded.

②The boy was late for work.

③The boy was late for work.
