　　A: The oppressive day is almost killing me.

　　甲:我快被悶熱死了。

　　B: Yeah, it's quite different from the forecast.

　　乙:瞧，這和天氣預(yù)報(bào)說(shuō)的一點(diǎn)也不一樣。

　　2.boiling a. 極熱的，沸騰的

　　A: It's boiling out?

　　甲:外面悶熱得厲害!

　　B: Is it always as hot as this?

　　乙:總是這么熱嗎?

　　A:By the way, where is your hometown?

　　甲:順便問(wèn)一下，你的家鄉(xiāng)在哪兒?

　　B: Wuhan，one of the famous furnaces, you know.

　　乙:武漢，有名的火爐之一。

　　A: The air is too close. I' m hoping for a change.

　　B: I' m afraid we'll have another heat wave.

　　乙:恐怕又有一股熱浪要襲來(lái)了。

　　A: I felt like I was roasting.

　　A: It's awfully hot and muggy.

　　B: Yeah. I wonder what it's going to be Pike tomorrow.

　　A: It's rather hot and sticky.

　　甲:真是又熱又濕。

　　8: I wonder when it will be nice.

　　乙:不知道什么時(shí)候天氣才能變好些。

　　8.sultry a. 悶熱的，酷熱的

　　A: It has been sultry for a fortnight.

　　甲:這樣悶熱的天氣已持續(xù)兩周了。

　　B: But the forecast says it will last another week.

　　乙:但預(yù)報(bào)說(shuō)這種天氣還要延續(xù)一周。

　　9.sweltering a. 酷熱的，使熱得發(fā)昏的

　　A: It's swelteringly hot today. What's the temperature?

　　甲:今天又悶又熱，溫度多高?

　　B: It has climbed to 95℉.

　　乙:升到華氏95度了。
