Sing your heart out, not your pulmonary system.

In China, a Nanchang county resident was hospitalized after his lung collapsed. Cause of injury? Too much karaoke, according to the South China Morning Post via PearVideo.

The 65-year-old crooner reportedly sang 10 songs in a row, straining to hit the high notes before succumbing to pain in his left side.

“I was very excited in the heat of the moment,” the man, identified only by his last name, Wang, told the video site. He selected some of the same jams he usually sings, he said.

But, after hitting a few “very high notes, I found myself having breathing difficulties,” he said. Wang took his proverbial bow and went home, ignoring the pain. The next day, he checked himself in to a nearby hospital.

Peng Bin-fei, the marathon singer’s doctor, told PearVideo that the injury was caused “by high lung pressure.”

Bin-fei offered this advice: “It’s better not to sing for a period of over two hours.”
