If you think riding in an elevator with random people can be awkward, you’re not alone. A new study has found that 66% of people don’t want to talk while in one.

如果你認(rèn)為和隨機(jī)的人一起坐電梯會(huì)很尷尬，那么你并不孤單。一項(xiàng)新的研究發(fā)現(xiàn)，66%的人不喜歡在電梯里交談。

A quarter of them said they don’t talk because they just don’t like speaking to people they don’t know, according to a study by German company thyssenkrupp Elevator released last week.

德國(guó)蒂森克虜伯電梯公司(Thyssenkrupp Elevator)上周公布的一項(xiàng)研究顯示，四分之一的受訪者表示，他們之所以不說話，只是因?yàn)樗麄儾幌矚g和不認(rèn)識(shí)的人說話。

Almost 1 in 5 also said they would actively avoid getting into an elevator if someone they didn’t like was in it.

近五分之一的受訪者還表示，如果不喜歡的人在電梯里，他們會(huì)避免進(jìn)入電梯。

A whopping 7 billion elevator rides happen each day, the company survey said, adding people were missing an opportunity to connect.

To help people break the silence, thyssenkrupp has dubbed July 26 “Talk in an Elevator Day” and released a series of elevator conversation starters.

The company suggests keeping it simple on the first floor, asking your fellow rider how their day is going, but feel free to get to know each other on the seventh floor by asking, “Have you ever kissed in an elevator?”
