第二，more than在這里并不是真正的比較，而是表示含蓄或婉轉(zhuǎn)的否定，如：
It's more than I can tell you. 我(真的)不能告訴你。
(語(yǔ)氣要比I cannot tell you婉轉(zhuǎn)得多，含義“不是我本人不想告訴你，而是由于某種客觀原因我才不能告訴你”。)其它形容詞和副詞比較級(jí)也有類(lèi)似用法，如：
He is wiser than saying that (=he is not so foolish as to say that).
