大學(xué)英語六級翻譯技法:(八)漢語復(fù)合長句的譯法漢語的幾個(gè)意義

(八)漢語復(fù)合長句的譯法漢語的幾個(gè)意義相關(guān)的單句常用逗號連接,構(gòu)成復(fù)合長句。譯法有四種:

I.譯成若干獨(dú)立的英語簡單句,用句號或分號連接

標(biāo)點(diǎn)符號不是漢語的發(fā)明,而是對英語的借鑒。漢語的標(biāo)點(diǎn)用法遠(yuǎn)遠(yuǎn)不如英語的嚴(yán)謹(jǐn)。漢語的幾個(gè)意義相關(guān)的單句常用逗號連接,但譯成英語一定要用句號或分號連接。

1)中世紀(jì)時(shí)期,手工業(yè)者就已開始專門制造產(chǎn)品,商人也開始專營商品銷售,出現(xiàn)的店鋪越來越多,商貿(mào)活動(dòng)迅猛發(fā)展。

Ever since the Middle Ages,handcraft men have begun specializing in manufacturing.Merchants have begun specializing in selling.An increasing number of stores and shops have emerged.Commercial and trade activities have begun boosting.

2)我們的國家大,人口眾多,經(jīng)濟(jì)落后,農(nóng)業(yè)要搞上去,最重要的還是要依靠一系列正確的政策調(diào)動(dòng)農(nóng)民的積極性,自力更生,艱苦奮斗。

Our country is a big one.It has a large population.Its economy is also backward.To develop agriculture,the most important thing to do is to mobilize the initiative of the peasants to work hard and self-reliantly by means of a series of correct policies.

3)一個(gè)世紀(jì)以來,中國人民在前進(jìn)道路上經(jīng)歷了三次歷史性的巨大變化,產(chǎn)生了三位站在時(shí)代前列的偉大人物:孫中山、毛澤東、鄧小平。

In the past century,the Chinese people have undergone three historical changes on their road of development.Three great figures have come into being who led their ages:Sun Yat-sen,Mao Zedong and Deng Xiaoping.

II.譯成英語的并列句,用并列連詞連接

1)中世紀(jì)時(shí)期,手工業(yè)者就已開始專門制造產(chǎn)品,商人也開始專營商品銷售,出現(xiàn)的店鋪越來越多,商貿(mào)活動(dòng)迅猛發(fā)展。

Ever since the Middle Ages,handcraft men have begun specializing in manufacturing,merchants have begun specializing in selling,an increasing number of stores and shops have emerged and commercial and trade activities have begun boosting.

2)我們的國家大,人口眾多,經(jīng)濟(jì)落后,農(nóng)業(yè)要搞上去,最重要的還是要依靠一系列正確的政策調(diào)動(dòng)農(nóng)民的積極性,自力更生,艱苦奮斗。

Our country is a big one and it has a large population and backward economy,so the most important thing to do to develop agriculture is mobilize the initiative of the peasants to work hard and self-reliantly by means of a series of correct policies.

3)一個(gè)世紀(jì)以來,中國人民在前進(jìn)道路上經(jīng)歷了三次歷史性的巨大變化,產(chǎn)生了三位站在時(shí)代前列的偉大人物:孫中山、毛澤東、鄧小平。

III.譯成英語的復(fù)合句,用主從連詞連接

1)中國經(jīng)濟(jì)成功地進(jìn)行了“軟著陸”,這是宏觀經(jīng)濟(jì)調(diào)控的結(jié)果。

China's economy has succeeded in soft-landing,which is the result of macro control and adjustment.

2)中世紀(jì)時(shí)期,手工業(yè)者就已開始專門制造產(chǎn)品,商人也開始專營商品銷售,出現(xiàn)的店鋪越來越多,商貿(mào)活動(dòng)迅猛發(fā)展。

Ever since the Middle Ages,commercial and trade activities have begun boosting as handcraft men began specializing in manufacturing,merchants began specializing in selling and an increasing number of stores and shops emerged.

3)我們的國家大,人口眾多,經(jīng)濟(jì)落后,農(nóng)業(yè)要搞上去,最重要的還是要依靠一系列正確的政策調(diào)動(dòng)農(nóng)民的積極性,自力更生,艱苦奮斗。

IV.譯成英語的復(fù)雜簡單句,將一個(gè)單句譯成主句,其他用非謂語動(dòng)詞形式、介詞詞組或名詞詞組等譯作修飾語

1)中國經(jīng)濟(jì)成功地進(jìn)行了“軟著陸”,這是宏觀經(jīng)濟(jì)調(diào)控的結(jié)果。

China's economy has succeeded in soft-landing,a result of macro control and adjustment.

2)門口放著一堆雨傘,顏色各異,大小不一。

In the doorway lies a pile of umbrellas of different colors and sizes.

3)我們的國家大,人口眾多,經(jīng)濟(jì)落后,農(nóng)業(yè)要搞上去,最重要的還是要依靠一系列正確的政策調(diào)動(dòng)農(nóng)民的積極性,自力更生,艱苦奮斗。

In so vast a country with such a large population and backward economy as China,agriculture advance requires above all else mobilizing,by means of a series of correct policies,the initiative of the farmers to work hard and self-reliantly.

4)亞洲經(jīng)濟(jì)是世界經(jīng)濟(jì)的重要組成部分。亞洲經(jīng)濟(jì)迅速發(fā)展,為世界經(jīng)濟(jì)增添了活力,為國際貿(mào)易和投資開辟了巨大的市場。

As an important component of the world economy,Asia's economy has developed rapidly,instilling vitality into the world economy and opening vast markets for international trade and investment.
