(七)漢語(yǔ)多謂語(yǔ)句的譯法

漢語(yǔ)單句的一個(gè)主語(yǔ)后面常用逗號(hào)連接兩個(gè)或兩個(gè)以上的謂語(yǔ),稱為多謂語(yǔ)句或并列謂語(yǔ)句。譯法有三種:

I.譯成英語(yǔ)并列謂語(yǔ)句,用并列連詞連接(前提是漢語(yǔ)的謂語(yǔ)之間可以理解成并列關(guān)系。注意一定不要僅僅用逗號(hào)連接兩個(gè)謂語(yǔ))

1)他把書接過(guò)來(lái)擺在膝蓋上。

He took the book and laid it on his lap.

2)當(dāng)前最重要的任務(wù)是發(fā)展國(guó)民經(jīng)濟(jì),提高人民生活水平。

The most important task at present is to develop national economy and raise people's living standards.

3)他們大大促進(jìn)了美國(guó)文化的發(fā)展,提高了全美人民的生活水平。

They have greatly promoted the development of American culture and improved the whole nation's living standards.

4)中國(guó)經(jīng)濟(jì)成功地進(jìn)行了“軟著陸”,這是宏觀經(jīng)濟(jì)調(diào)控的結(jié)果。它控制了通貨膨脹,避免了經(jīng)濟(jì)的大起大落,保持了經(jīng)濟(jì)的快速增長(zhǎng)。

China's economy has succeeded in soft-landing.That is the result of macro control and adjustment.It has curbed inflation,prevented major fluctuations and helped maintain a rapid growth of economy.

II.把一個(gè)或一些謂語(yǔ)譯成英語(yǔ)的謂語(yǔ),另外的謂語(yǔ)則譯成英語(yǔ)的非謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞形式、介詞詞組或名詞詞組作修飾語(yǔ)(前提是漢語(yǔ)的謂語(yǔ)之間可以理解成主次關(guān)系。非謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞形式在這是指不定式和分詞,表目的時(shí)用不定式,表伴隨或結(jié)果時(shí)用分詞)

1)當(dāng)前最重要的任務(wù)是發(fā)展國(guó)民經(jīng)濟(jì),以提高人民生活水平。

The most important task at present is to develop national economy so as to raise people's living standards.

2)中國(guó)經(jīng)濟(jì)成功地進(jìn)行了“軟著陸”,這是宏觀經(jīng)濟(jì)調(diào)控的結(jié)果。它控制了通貨膨脹,避免了經(jīng)濟(jì)的大起大落,保持了經(jīng)濟(jì)的快速增長(zhǎng)。

或

3)西安為陜西省省會(huì),位于陜西省的中心,是我國(guó)中西部主要的工業(yè)、科技、文化、教育、商業(yè)和金融中心。

Located at the center of Shaanxi,Xi'an is the capital city of the province and is a major industrial,scientific and technological,cultural,educational,commercial and financial center in central and western China.

或:

Xi'an,capital city of Shaanxi,is located at the center of the province and is a major industrial,scientific and technological,cultural,educational,commercial and financial center in central and western China.

4)亞洲經(jīng)濟(jì)是世界經(jīng)濟(jì)的重要組成部分。亞洲經(jīng)濟(jì)迅速發(fā)展,為世界經(jīng)濟(jì)增添了活力,為國(guó)際貿(mào)易和投資開辟了巨大的市場(chǎng)。

Asia's economy is an important component of the world economy.It has developed rapidly,instilling vitality into the world economy and opening vast markets for international trade and investment.

5)中國(guó)政府將繼續(xù)堅(jiān)定不移地奉行獨(dú)立自主的和平外交政策,同世界各國(guó)建立和發(fā)展友好關(guān)系,反對(duì)霸權(quán)主義和強(qiáng)權(quán)政治,維護(hù)世界和平,推動(dòng)社會(huì)發(fā)展,促進(jìn)人類進(jìn)步。

The Chinese government will unswervingly pursue its independent foreign policy of peace by establishing and developing friendly relations with other countries and opposing hegemonism and power politics so as to safeguard world peace and promote social development and the progress of mankind.

6)我們要積極推進(jìn)經(jīng)濟(jì)體制和經(jīng)濟(jì)增長(zhǎng)模式的根本改變,努力實(shí)現(xiàn)“九五”計(jì)劃和2010年遠(yuǎn)景目標(biāo)。

We must vigorously promote the fundamental shift of the economic mechanism and the mode of economic growth,with an aim to fulfill the Ninth Five-Year Plan and attain the Long-Range Objectives through the Year 2010.
