There was once a peasant who was unhappy about the slow growth of his seedlings.So he went to the field and  pulled upthem a bit one by one.Aftergetting back home, he told his family,“I am really tired out today!But I finally made those young crops grow taller all at once.”O(jiān)n hearing this,his son hurried to the field,only to find that the crops were all dead.

從前有個(gè)人養(yǎng)了一群羊。一天早上他準(zhǔn)備出去放羊，發(fā)現(xiàn)少了一只。他仔細(xì)一看，看到羊欄(sheepfold) 上有個(gè)窟窿。顯然，夜間有狼鉆進(jìn)羊圈叼走了羊。

鄰居勸他修羊欄，可是他不聽(tīng)。

第二天，他發(fā)現(xiàn)狼又通過(guò)窟窿叼走一只羊。他想起鄰居的話，就趕快堵上窟窿，把羊欄補(bǔ)好。此后，他的羊再也沒(méi)有被狼叼走。

故事告訴我們：出了問(wèn)題及時(shí)補(bǔ)救，可以防止蒙受更大損失。

There was once a man who kept a flock of sheep. One morning,he was about to herd them when he noticed that one sheep was missing. Upon examination,he found a hole in the sheepfold. Obviously,it was a wolf that got in and took the sheep away at night.

His neighbor advised him to fix the sheepfold,but he didn't listen.

The next day,he found that another sheep had been stolen by the wolf through the hole.Then he remembered his neighbor's words and hurried to mend the sheepfold by plugging up the hole.From then on,no sheep was lostever again.

This story tells us tha when something goes wrong, we can prevent bigger losses by doing something about it in time.

There was once a peasant who was ploughing in the field.Suddenly he saw that a hare darting past bumped against a large tree and died.He cnjoyed a meal of hare meat without any cffort and was so pleased that he thought,“How wonderful it would be to have this all the time!”So he stopped plowing and wited by that tree every day for picking up another hare that bumped into the tree.He waited and waited day after day,only to have the ficld waste rather than a second hare. Thercfore,people all laughed at him for taking the accidental for the incvitable.
