2016年12月英語(yǔ)四級(jí)翻譯練習(xí)：胡同

　　北京城的胡同長(zhǎng)短不一，風(fēng)格各異。最長(zhǎng)的是東交民巷胡同，全長(zhǎng)近3千米。最短的是一尺大街胡同，從頭到尾僅有25米。最寬的是靈境胡同，目前最寬處可達(dá)30多米。最窄的是錢市胡同，最窄處僅40厘米，需側(cè)身通過(guò)。彎道最多的是九灣胡同，彎曲之處(curves)不下13處,走在其中，很容易迷路。歷史最悠久的要數(shù)磚塔胡同，為元代胡同，至今已有700余年歷史。

　　Hutongs in Beijing have various styles and differentlengths. The longest one is DongjiaominxiangHutong, with a total length of about 3 kilometers.The shortest one is Yichidajie Hutong, with only 25meters from beginning to the end. The widest one is Lingjing Hutong, with the widest partreaching over 30 meters at present. The narrowest one is the Qianshi Hutong, and its narrowestpart is merely 40 centimeters wide; people must turn sideways to pass through it. JiuwanHutong, with at least 13 curves, is the most tortuous one and can easily make you lose yourway. The one with the longest history of more than 700 years is the Zhuanta Hutong, whoseconstruction can be traced back to the Yuan Dynasty.

　　1.胡同:此處的“胡同”指的是北京特色之一，不能譯成bystreet等，直接使用漢語(yǔ)拼音hutong即可。

　　2.長(zhǎng)度的表達(dá):文中多處需要表達(dá)長(zhǎng)度，a total lengthof,...from beginning to the end,...reaching...等詞的靈活使用會(huì)讓譯文不顯得單調(diào)乏味。

　　3.側(cè)身:即轉(zhuǎn)向側(cè)面，可譯為turn sideways。sideways為副詞，意為“向側(cè)面地，向一旁”。

　　4.彎道最多…很容易迷路:句子中前后分句的主語(yǔ)不一致，在翻譯時(shí)，要注意改成主語(yǔ)一致或者增添各分句的主語(yǔ)。
