1. 解詞釋義

漢語中我們用“渴”來表示強(qiáng)烈的愿望，從而有了“如饑似渴”“渴望”等生動的詞語。而英語中的“die”則有異曲同工之妙，也是用來形容非常急切的愿望或強(qiáng)烈的愿望。Be dying to do something或者是be dying for something是“想得要命”的意思，意思是desire excessively。

2. 拓展例句

e.g. She is dying to know where you've been.

她渴望知道你到哪里去了。

e.g. The conversation vexed her, and she was dying to tell this honest lady a few hometruths.

這種談話叫她心煩，她急于要把自己家庭生活的實情告訴這位正經(jīng)婦人一點。

e.g. London was a new world to me and I was dying to find out more about it for myself.

倫敦對我來說是個新世界，我渴望了解這個城市的一切。

e.g. We were in a fever of impatience; we were dying to see the renowned Cathedral!

Ps：if only用于虛擬語氣中，表示“要是......就好了。”再如：

If only one had an unlimited supply of money!

要是財源不斷就好了!

If only it were possible for me to see her once more!

If only you would listen to reason!

你要是能聽得進(jìn)道理就好了!

The pills might have cured him, if only he'd taken them regularly.
