由兩類連接詞引導(dǎo)的賓語從句：

（1）that連接

【例1】 　John said that he was to be promoted to general manager next month.

【譯文】 　John說下個月他將被提拔為總經(jīng)理。

【例2】 　Experts confirmed that a puma will not attack a human being unless it is cornered.

【譯文】 　專家們證實(shí)，美洲獅除非被逼入困境否則不會攻擊人類。

【例3】 　Looking at his watch, he saw that it was one o'clock.

【譯文】 　看了看表，他注意到是一點(diǎn)鐘。

【例4】 　I was wondering whether I should bring my girl friend to the gathering.

【譯文】 　我在考慮聚會時(shí)是否應(yīng)該帶女友過去。

此處的連接詞that/whether沒有詞義，在從句中不作任何語法成分，只起引導(dǎo)賓語從句的作用，通常可以省略。

【例1】 　I wonder why he deserted his enviable well-paid position.

【譯文】 　我不明白他為什么要辭掉那個令人羨慕的高薪職位。

【例2】 　That will depend on where we shall go.

【例3】 　He asked me which room he could have and I offered him number.

【譯文】 　他問我他可以入住哪間房，我就告訴了他房間號。

【例4】 　Armed with a torch, the vicar went up into the clock tower to see what was going on.

【譯文】 　牧師帶上手電筒，上了塔樓，去看發(fā)生了什么事。
