General Information 基本概況

Sun Yat-sen University is a state key university listed in the nation“Project 211”and co-built by the Ministry of Education and the government of Guangdong Province.

中山大學(xué)是教育部和廣東省共建的全國“211工程”重點大學(xué)。

Sun Yat-sen University is located in Guangdong Province，the frontal of reform and opening. At present the University has 4 campuses with a total area of 6. 17 square kilometers sitting respectively on both sides of the Pearl River or facing the South China Sea. The Guangzhou South Campus covers an area of 1 .17 square kilometers，the North Campus covers an area of U. 39 square kilometers，and the Zhuhai Campus covers an area of 3. 48 square kilometers.

中山大學(xué)位于改革開放前沿的廣東省?，F(xiàn)有四個校區(qū)，總面積達(dá)6. 17平方千米，分別坐落在珠江之畔、南海之濱。廣州南校區(qū)占地1.17平方千米，北校區(qū)占地0. 39平方千米，廣州東校區(qū)占地1. 13平方公里，珠海校區(qū)占地3. 48平方千米。

Sun Yat-sen university is a name-brand institution of higher education with fine traditions in teaching and learning. In 1924，Dr. Sun Yat-sen，great leader of the 20th century，founded this university personally，and inscribed in his own handwriting the school mofto of“Study extensively;Enquire accurately;Reflect carefully;Discriminate clearly;Practise earnestly".Many experts and scholars well-known at home and abroad have taught in Sun Yat-sen University，among them are Lu Xun，Guo Moruo，F(xiàn)eng Youlan，F(xiàn)u Sinian，Zhao Yuanren，Gu Jiegang，Zhou Gucheng，Yu Pingbo，Chen Yinque，Cen Zhongmian，Jiang Lifu，Wang Yanang，Ma Cai，Rong Geng，Shang Chengzuo，Wang Jisi，Wang Li，Zhong Jinwen，Zhu Qianzhi，Ding Ying，Pu Zhelong，etc. Famous scholars and great masters have been gathBring at the university to nurture generation after generation of students and to cultivate fine academic vogue，and many gifted graduates have become outstanding figures in all walks of life.

中山大學(xué)是有優(yōu)良辦學(xué)傳統(tǒng)的名牌大學(xué)。1924年，世紀(jì)偉人孫中山先生親手創(chuàng)辦這所大學(xué)，親筆題寫了“博學(xué)、審問、慎思、明辨、篤行”的校訓(xùn)。魯迅、郭沫若、馮友蘭、傅斯年、趙元任、顧領(lǐng)剛、周谷城、俞平伯、陳寅格、岑仲勉、姜立夫、王亞南、馬采、容庚、商承柞、王季思、王力、鐘敬文、朱謙之、丁穎、蒲蟄龍等蜚聲海內(nèi)外的專家學(xué)者都曾在中山大學(xué)任教。學(xué)校名家大師薈萃，熏陶著一代代萃萃學(xué)子，形成了良好的學(xué)術(shù)風(fēng)氣，不少才華橫溢的畢業(yè)生成為社會各界的杰出人才。

At present，Sun Yat-sen University is a comprehensive university including the humanities，social sciences，natural sciences，technical science，medical science，pharmacology and management science. There are 25 schools and colleges. The University offers 22 first-category Ph. D. degree disciplines，32 first-category Master degree disciplines，of which 171 specialties lead to Doctorate degree，236 specialties lead to Master degree;in addition，there are 19 branches of studies leading to professional degrees. The University has 12 post-doctorate research floating stations，20 key disciplines at the national level and 43 key disciplines at Guangdong provincial level. There are 89 specialties in undergraduate programs，with 6 national bases of fundamental sciences research and training. There are also the national bases of education in cultural qualities for college students and the first athletic training base for college students in China.

目前，中山大學(xué)是一所包括人文科學(xué)、社會科學(xué)、自然科學(xué)、技術(shù)科學(xué)、工學(xué)、醫(yī)學(xué)、藥學(xué)和管理科學(xué)等在內(nèi)的綜合性大學(xué)。設(shè)有26個學(xué)院(系)，有22個博士學(xué)位授權(quán)一級學(xué)科、32個碩士學(xué)位授權(quán)一級學(xué)科，博士學(xué)位授權(quán)點達(dá)171個，碩士學(xué)位授權(quán)點達(dá)236個，還有專業(yè)學(xué)位點19個，12個博士后科研流動站，20個國家級重點學(xué)科和43個廣東省重點學(xué)科。有89個本科專業(yè)，6個國家級基礎(chǔ)科學(xué)研究和人才培養(yǎng)基地。我校還具有國家大學(xué)生文化素質(zhì)教育基地和中國的第一個大學(xué)生體育訓(xùn)練基地。

The number of students of all types amounts to over 70 000，of which over 3 800 are doctorate candidates，13 000 are graduate students pursuing master degreen，1 880 are part-time graduate students working toward doctorate and master degrees，28 000 are undergraduate students and 1 100 are international students.

今年，在校各類學(xué)生7萬多人，其中博士研究生3 800多人、碩士研究生13 000多人，在職攻讀博士、碩士學(xué)位學(xué)生1 880人，本科生28 000多人，外國留學(xué)生1 100多人。

Sun Yat-sen University has abundant qualified faculty members.There are 12 000 faculty and staff members，of which 805 are Ph. D. supervisors，over 860 are full professors，over 1 500 are associate professors. There are 13 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and 4 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering，3 State Outstanding College Lecturers，15 young and middle-aged experts with outstanding contributions at the national level，37 recipients of national fund for outstanding young scientists，19 persons selected in the first and second rounds of the“project of talent selection" by the Ministry of Personnel，19 candidates chosen for the“plan of training excellent scholars for the new century" by the Ministry of Education，16 professors specially accredited with the“Cheungkon Scholars Program" of the Ministry of Education，and 16 experts with outstandin contributions selected by the Department of Health.

中山大學(xué)有著雄厚的師資力量。全校共有教職工近12 000人，其中有博士生導(dǎo)師805人，具有高級職稱的860多人，具有副高職稱的1 500多人。有中國科學(xué)院院士13人、中國工程院院士4人，國家級教學(xué)名師3名，國家級有突出貢獻(xiàn)的中青年專家15人，國家杰出青年科學(xué)基金獲得者37人，國家人事部“百千萬人才工程”第一、二層次人選19人，教育部“跨世紀(jì)優(yōu)秀人才培養(yǎng)計劃”人選19人，教育部“長江學(xué)者”特聘教授16人，衛(wèi)生部突出貢獻(xiàn)專家16人。

The university has a batch of laboratories and research bases with advance standards and complete facilities. At present, there are 7 national key laboratories 9 key laboratories designated by the Ministry of Education，6 key research bases the humanities designated by the Ministry of Education，4 key laboratories designai ed by the Ministry of Health，and 10 key laboratories designated by Guangdon Province.

The University library boasts 111 000 square meters of floor space with a collection of 4 886 800 volumes and has been assigned by the Ministry of Education a the center for storing documents of higher education in South China，one of the centers of the higher education document guarantee system in China.

中山大學(xué)圖書館總建筑面積11萬余平方米，圖書館藏書498. 8萬冊，已被教育部確定為高教文獻(xiàn)保障體系華南地區(qū)中心，是中國高等教育文獻(xiàn)保障體系的7個中心之一。

The University has four comprehensive affiliated hospitals，namely，the Firs University Hospital，The Second University Hospital(SunYat-sen Memorial Hospital)，The Third University Hospital and The Fifth University Hospital(Zhuhai Hospital)，as well as Sun Yat-sen Ophthalmology Center(including the Ophthalmology Hospital)，the Center of Prevention and Cure of Cancer(including the Cancer Hospital )，and Guanghua Stomatological Hospital.

學(xué)校擁有附屬第一醫(yī)院、附屬第二醫(yī)院(孫逸仙紀(jì)念醫(yī)院)、附屬第三醫(yī)院、附屬第五醫(yī)院(珠海醫(yī)院)等4所附屬綜合性醫(yī)院，以及中山眼科中心(含眼科醫(yī)院)、月中瘤防治中心(含腫瘤醫(yī)院)、光華口腔醫(yī)院等3個專科醫(yī)院。
