Huazhong University of Science and Technology(HUST) is a key university directly under the leadership of the Ministry of Education and one of the first group universities listed in the national“Project 211”and“Project 985”.It is a comprehensive university with multi-disciplines of science，engineering，meditine，art and management and one of the largest and first-rate institutions of higher learning of China.

華中科技大學(xué)是國家教育部直屬的全國重點(diǎn)大學(xué)，是首批列人國家“211工程”重點(diǎn)建設(shè)的大學(xué)，國家“985工程”建設(shè)高校，是涵蓋理、工、醫(yī)、文、管等多學(xué)科的綜合性大學(xué)，是目前國內(nèi)規(guī)模最大、水平一流的高等學(xué)府之一。

HUST is located in Hubei Province's capital Wuhan known as“the thoroughfare leading to nine provinces".The campus covers an area of over 467 hectares. The university's library of three buildings with advanced facilities has a collection of 3.49 million volumes.HUST ranks at the top of China's leading universities in comprehensive strength. In the University，there are eleven faculties including philosophy，economics，law，education，literature，science，engineering，medicine，management，history and agriculture. It offers a variety of programs，including 78 undergraduate programs，248 Master's programs，173 doctoral programs and 22 post doctoral research centers. It has 4 state key laboratories，4 national engineering research centers and 22 key laboratories in the provincial and ministerial level.

It has more than 13 000 staff members，including 7 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences，9 academicians of Chinese Academy of Engineering，610 doctoral supervisors，1 025 professors and 1 387 associate professors.

現(xiàn)有教職工13 000余人，其中中國科學(xué)院院士7人，中國工程院院士9人，博士生導(dǎo)師610人，教授1 025人，副教授1 387人。

The full time students are over 60 000(including students of adult education and on-line education)，of whom over 35 398 are undergraduates 18 884 postgraduates，:}47 students from Hong Kong，Macao，Taiwan regions and foreign countries.

Glorious History 歷史變遷

1953 Huazhong Institute of Technology，the predecessor of RUST，was founded.

1953年華中科技大學(xué)的前身華中_I}學(xué)院建校。

1971 most departments and staff of the former Wuhan Mechanical Institute were merged into Huazhong Institute of Technology.

1971年原武漢大學(xué)機(jī)械系、電機(jī)系等部分并人華中工學(xué)院。

1988 Huazhong Institute of Technology was renamed Huazhong University of Seience &Technology.

1988年華中工學(xué)院改名為華中理工大學(xué)。

2000 A new Huazhong University of Science &Technology，a merger of the former HUST，the former Tongji Medical University，the former Wuhan Urban Construction Institute and the former Wuhan Science&Technology Vocational College，was established.

2000年原華中理工大學(xué)、原同濟(jì)醫(yī)科大學(xué)、原武漢城市建設(shè)學(xué)院和原科技部干部管理學(xué)院合并成立新的華中理工大學(xué)。
